2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil

Go Costa Rica! Love me some underdog superiority. And they're playing very exciting football, unlike many park-the-bus motivated underdogs.

Flash, I'd like to apologize and take it back. Instead I'll say:
It was clueless to call me clueless. 3-1 vs Uruguay really happened.

Costa Rica defender Giancarlo González:
“Everybody knows that many of us were not known before this World Cup but the Uruguay game was a good introduction for us to the world,” he said. “Maybe some people still don’t know us but against Italy, we will let the world know we are here.”

What you don't realize is that me and NP called you clueless for saying "Italy is an easier opponent". Not because you said Costa Rica can beat them. Just a couple of pages ago, I said "I wouldn't write Costa Rica off after what they did to Uruguay".

I wouldn't write Costa Rica off after what they did to Uruguay.

I still think saying the latest finalists of the European Championship (who had just beaten the English team and hadn't gone through a strategical collapse like the Spanish team) are weak is interesting , for the lack of a better term. Italy and Uruguay are teams of the same level.

As you can see, I'm cheering for Costa Rica to win this game. And I don't even like the Italian national team. I found your "let's fix this easier opponent" sentiment off the mark, and I felt like it was caused by your apparent dislike towards the Italian team (might be a wrong assessment, but that's the message I've got from your earlier posts).

Game started at 13H00 local time, 29º celsius and 70% humidity. Why can't them play 1 or 2 hours earlier=

Really bad game. Pirlo shoot one good free kick and nothing more happened. o_O

You can also tell Costa Rica knows how to defend.

Group of Death = Underdogs are through.

England is out!

Epic success by Costa Rica. Historic stuff. They managed to advance from the Uruguay, Italy, England group of death, and not by luck either, they simply OUTPLAYED those teams. Amazing.

This tournament once again proves that in order to have a great World Cup, you need good performance from teams outside of Europe. North and South American teams are keeping the tournament very exciting.

My points had nothing to do with Costa Rica, but only Italy. I don't see how Italy is an "easier" opponent than Uruguay. Is the win tonight any less of a success than the one they had against Uruguay? If Italy is an easier opponent, your answer should be yes.

Overall it was a bad game. I think Italy will pull through, Costa Rica trashed Uruguay and Uruguay only beat England because of their shitty defense. I'd blame Costa Rica's goal on that idiot Abate, didn't cover that cross <_<

I expect Uruguay to beat Italy in a hard fought game. Italy should drop the 4-2-3-1 and play in 3-5-2 as quickly as possible. Costa Rica beat Uruguay by playing 3-5-2 and Italian defenders are used to playing 3-5-2.

It is refreshing to see teams not from Europe play well and beat those European countries that people are used to worshipping here...:p

Hoping for Uruguay to beat Italy!

Oh my Frenchmen are going all in against Suisse. I know French team isn't well liked here, but I hope they do well. They were my favorite national team growing up (they had my three favorite players in the world: Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Lilian Thuram).

Not surprised England's gone, Hodgson fucked up the lineup. After seeing these two games, I would've gone with:
Hart
Johnson Cahill Jagielka Shaw
Wilshere Gerrard Ox
Sterling Rooney Sturridge
