2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil

England has to win against Costa Rica by quite a lot, but I hope they manage. They still have an outside chance...but we can accept they are probably complete.

Well, they don't have to win by that much. If Costa Rica lose to Italy, and Uruguay do the same, England will have to beat Costa Rica by two goals. That would give a zero goal difference for England and a negative one for Costa Rica.

Gerrard is so used to setting up Suarez at Liverpool that he just went with instinct.

I'll be fair here and admit that England deserved a draw. They dominated the second half for thirty minutes and kept Uruguay on the defensive with the pace of their forwards and full-backs. I didn't think they were certain to equalize but with that kind of pace and quality there will always be a chance, particularly when Uruguay seemed to be sitting back. Uruguay dominated the next ten minutes which makes me think that they could have continued to play like that after the 50th minute and killed the game off. England can still go through though.

This group ... Ivory Coast is the only team that wouldn't look lost in a quarter final. Greece are crap. Japan are no good. Colombia are decent but no more.

Then you have another group with Germany, Portugal, USA and Ghana. All teams you wouldn't be surprised to find in the quarter-final.

Colombia is a better team than USA and Ghana. Not even close, really. I don't know what gives you the idea of that Colombia are "decent but no more" while Ivory Coast wouldn't look lost in the quarter finals right after Colombia outplayed Ivory Coast.

Colombia is that team that noone would like to face. They're very dangerous if you don't brush them aside early in the game. Amazing team to watch when they have the momentum on their side.

Now is time for an update in the always competitive battle for the last place.

Fact of the day: Greece and Japan surpass England. :D

29º - England, 0 points, -2
30º - Australia, 0 points, -3
31º - Cameroon, o points, -5
32º - Spain, 0 points, -6

Tomorrow you don't want to miss another top contenders: Ecuador VS Honduras.

So far, Spain still leading, typical of them in the last few years.

The Japan/Greece game last night was a very poor game, and became even worse after Greece had a man sent off...

All England supporters will be Italy fans for the next two games, so come on the Azzurri! Switzerland v France has the potential to be a classic, really looking forward to that one! :) And Ecuador should beat Honduras, and I hope they do, as I really didn't like their display against France...
