So, once again it is time to draw the line. The end of a year is always a good point to step back, look at where you are, where you are going and where you have come from. Sure, it's just a random point in time someone once determined, but it works to ask yourself: "Where was I a year ago? Where will I be one year from now?"
Myself, I've had a very rough year, especially in the last third, and a number of people I told about it said they admired me for my fortitude and stamina. When I was in the middle of things, I kept telling myself that the only thing to do is carry on the hope that things will get better and wait for the light at the end of the tunnel to appear. The truth is that I didn't even notice myself how well I was actually doing. As I said elsewhere, I impressed some people enough for them to offer me a good job for a few months next year. I would call it a small miracle if I believed in that sort of thing, but looking back, it was just the exact right point to hear the news that I would be reaping what I had sown surprisingly early.
Anyway, it seems like I have a very good year coming up, with lots of positive change in every way. If things go the way I want them to, I will finally be graduating my BA in late winter/early spring, use the next months to earn money and tie up some loose ends, and after a terrific headbanging Maiden summer with a great bunch of you guys, I will be moving to Scotland to continue my studies there.
In that sense, I wish you all a Guten Rutsch, as they say in Germany - get well into the next year!
