Very true. There are bits like in Desolation Valley, before the intro riff comes back around that is exactly the same as a part in Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Steve must have dusted off A Tab in the Ocean during the Powerslave sessions, hence the King of Twilight cover. I absolutely love it.

I know. He's right as well. I remember Bruce commenting on the speed of the songs on Part 2. Hallowed on LAD is another example of it affecting the vocal performance a little.

If you compare it to the album version it is (way!) too fast. If it was an instrumental then fair enough but it spoils it a little when the singer can't keep up. In fairness to Adrian, he himself never misses a note. I totally understand his point though.

Adrian's sentiments about the songs being too fast are even more relevant here, IMO. SIASL and SOM are waaaay too fast. It makes it even harder for Bruce to sing at that tempo too. Dunno why they didn't ease up just a little? Great video though. Havn't watched it in a while. What a setlist!!!

Apologies. I stand corrected over the dvd stuff. The singles were a different matter Do you think that was coincidence? Out of all the songs to release as b-sides? I know it wasn't! As for Priest, I wouldn't know. Great guys. Met them all on that Demolition tour but I'm no fan, as such. I can...

For Blaze. Extra revenue. His compositions were released as bonus tracks recorded on the Edhuntour and they featured on Rock in Rio and Death on the Road. He will have made a bit off that. Not much, but some.

Not wanting to be overly cynical but I think there may have been financial / contractual obligations to play and release Blaze material afterwards. Bruce sang them well but I'm not sure he gladly wanted to...

Maiden England '88 + History Part 3 coming March 25th!

All very true guys. I would love to get a first-hand insight about all these issues but I doubt they would go into too much detail. Things were said at the time that I'm sure they would want to remain as history, rather than dissected on a history documentary. We'll get something but I don't...

Maiden England '88 + History Part 3 coming March 25th!

I get why people like it. I love the setlist, the stage, everything! But pesonally, I think if you're entire 'thing' is conceptual rock, with huge monsters, big fuck off icebergs, great lighting and a frontman that gets every single person in a 15,000 capacity venue involved in the show, why...

Maiden England '88 + History Part 3 coming March 25th!

I think it proves how many people felt about the band, the fact that once Buce and Adrian were back there was a resurgence in their popularity. I think changes in the music scene - in Britain, anyway - may have helped. The whole Britpop thing was fading by then. I was a huge fan of some of those...

Ha. He's still on foreign soil. That's why Al and I are hitting his back catalogue and his kitchen! :-)

No. Back in the UK. His nephew - Ian Hills son - and I are former bandmates and brothers in arms. Just listening to 'Sinner' with a good red. Great times. :-)

Would you believe I am sitting in Rob Halford's house as I write this? Strange but true.

Maiden England '88 + History Part 3 coming March 25th!

It was the 80s live stuff that sounded bad. The studio stuff, though largely bereft of anything really credible, showed ability. If Steve really thought that band were going anywhere he wouldn't have had Bruce back with open arms 5 years later. It was a tricky period for metal but they were so...

I wasn't suggesting that they did do that but even if they had it doesn't make it a cabaret act. I'm totally against the idea of 5 guys pretending to be other people. I'm just making the point that there were and are people out there who can sing better than Blaze and play better than Janick. If...

Maiden England '88 + History Part 3 coming March 25th!

Don't get me wrong. I admire anyone in any situation who carries on regardless through the more difficult times. I admire Steve's integrity. I saw Blaze in Wolfsbane several times and I loved them. Janick's writing and studio playing on Tattooed Millionaure was great too. If they had to continue...
  19. Robert Jones

Maiden England '88 + History Part 3 coming March 25th!

All true but the point I was getting at was that Maiden played enough big shows in 86 and had enough of a fan base to merit another live concert video. Whatever it had cost would have been recouped in sales. No problem! I think it was probably too early after LAD more than anything else. In...

Maiden England '88 + History Part 3 coming March 25th!

After watching the whole thing several times now I think it's kinda bitter/sweet... The documentary - which was the thing I was looking forward to seeing most - wasn't as good as the previous two. I did like the the focus on Somewhere in Time, I loved the humour with regards to the stage...
