With all due respect bc we're supposed to be friends here with common love for Maiden...but you seem to troll the band an awful lot. Who is disappointed here exactly? Nobody here is surprised that the album's hype lasted for a couple months before release and then died down quickly. That's...
Evan Dando of Lemonheads (indie garage pop band de rigeur in early 90's) sporting a TNOTB tshirt at a celeb even in 1996. think I saw it in like People magazine and was like whoa! nice!
There's a lot of desert outside of Phoenix lol. Which direction? I'm in Queen Creek and, yes, agree too much sprawl. I'd like to move up to Pinetop but my finances are not accommodating me currently...
Hey Maidenfans,
This has probably been done before but kinda curious where fellow fans are located. I'll go first. I'm in the Phoenix, Arizona, USA area. Part of the goal here is to also find fellow local fans for the next shows ! :shred:
I'm not making any value judgments here folks. I'm just stating my own observations on the themes. And I'm aware of Steve and Bruce's feelings regarding Brexit. The world is changing fast. Some of it is good (to some) and some of it is bad (to some). Popular opinion by default is not...
I'm not saying Maiden is equal to Metallica and AC/DC but they, like those two acts, are in the top 1% of touring acts regardless of genre. Metallica and AC/DC are the two biggest rock/metal bands of all time. They are clearly the two top dogs.
exactly. and the only reason that Maiden has fared higher in the charts is that they aren't "radio friendly". they never made a conscious effort to release a chart single like every other hard rock band outside of Metallica (up until Black album that is). chicks didn't go out and buy Maiden...
I'm talking about box office attraction. Maiden averages prob 15-25k per show, right? nobody but Metallica on your list does that kind of business on the road. their competition in terms of gate attendance is much greater than even the heavyweights of metal/hard rock. only Metallica and...
revised ratings after many rotations over last week. couple of caveats. 1) i'm ignoring the extraneous intros/outros on some of the epics, 2) i'm not rating these against anything pre-reunion...not fair, 3) a "6" rating as lowest here compares to my lowest of "2" on DOD ("wildest dreams") and...
the more i listen to this album the more i'm incredibly impressed with the lyrics. this is a really strong album thematically/lyrically. except Time Machine. that seems a bit too whimsical against the rest. but, damn....this is a really strong album compositionally. only complaint at this...
true but the growing sense of authoritarianism and centralization in the west was accelerating through the making of the album. same results on freedom/liberty...the analogy hold i think. but just my own interpretation. the loss of empire, age, loss of tradition, homogenization of...
