To me, it is about the more that science discovers about our universe, the less room there is for gods and the afterlife. We are finite and heading oblivion.
"Reef in a sail at the edge of the World". This took me a while to get but apparently a reef in a sail on a ship is the sections that can...
Kind of annoying how every song has to have a Steve Harris co-writing credit. It almost seems like it has become law in Maiden.
I can imagine if Adrian Smith was to bring a perfect short pop metal track like Wasted Years in today, fully written, Steve's response would be:
"It's great but it's...
The Early Days and Live After Death segments were obviously filmed at the same time around the Dance of Death era. I'm thinking that any future sets of interviews are already done at the same time, which will be weird to watch 10 year old interviews with the next release. In some ways it would...
I never said there wasn't a difference. I just meant that I don't need a musician to have likable views or personality to respect their work. As long as it's not far right wing stuff.

So Bruce doesn't share the liberal political views of the majority of the internet message board public. Big deal. I wouldn't hold it against a friend to be of conservative leanings so I won't hold it against a musician. Besides, Bruce has always struck me as a fairly arrogant individual. Even a...
Only thing I don't like lyrically on TFF is the line in Mother of Mercy that goes "I'll die a lonely man of that I'm certain of". It's bad grammar. It should be "... of that I'm certain" or "... and that I'm certain of" but having "of" in there twice is wrong and I'm surprised it got on the...
I don't think I've seen this mentioned but The Final Frontier is much less lyrically repetitive than other Maiden albums. It's only the title track that repeats the chorus lines over and over. Every other track has multiple lines in the chorus, a step in the right direction as far as I am concerned.
I'm surprised everyone is sticking with this Adrian being bitter line of conversation when the real headline from this video appears to be that Nicko has "literally" experienced time travel.
You know, this song frustrates me maybey more than any other song by anyone. It has potential to be truly brilliant but Maiden fucked up by half arsing the chorus and repeating the same lines twice. It needed a change in lyrics and melody after the first half of the chorus and less repetition at...
I think it's a good song. Nothing amazing or overly memorable but good.
I think it would be a lot better without the intro. Just a drumbeat then straight into the riff would be much more effective, I think.
Weakest track on the album but acts as kind of a link in the storytelling and it works in that way. Because of it's role in the song order, I don't think that its relative weakness brings down the average.
I worked in Korea for 4.5 years until a year or so ago. Karaoke is big over there and I was regularly belting out Can I Play With Madness in the pubs, full of the demon drink. It was one of my signature tunes.
They have some rather unexpected choices available in those places. Number of the...
I don't get the dislike for Montsegur. I think it's the best song on the album. By the same token, Paschendale does nothing for me.
I have to say though, that I bring this album out of retirement once every 2 or 3 years and each time I am surprised at how poor I find it.
