Our FM metal station, 96.7 here in Southern Cali, still never plays Maiden. They'll play Ozzy's latest single, old Dio, Ozzy-era Sabbath, Metallica, Megadeth (once in a blue moon), you name it, but a Maiden play is very rare.
I still think radio is a huge influence on the casual music listener - those who aren't necessarily visiting music websites or following specific bands or checking out the local record store weekly. My wife, for example - she listens to the radio pretty non-stop while driving, and the songs she...

Exactly. You can't claim the US of A killed Maiden after SSoaSS. Like it or not, their hard rock direction on NPFTD and FOTD turned off most listeners - not only in America, but in other countries as well.
Sweet!
Updated... any others?
What are you going on about? Because America isn't huge on your favorite bands, you can go around insulting its citizens? In case it wasn't clear, Iron Maiden, an act that literally gets 0 airplay on the radio or television, has the number 4 record in the country. Seriously, there are three...
So some countries don't dig Maiden so much... is that a crime? I know I did my part buying two copies.
Maiden landed at number 4 in the US, it's official

That bugs me so much. If you rated the album a 1, you probably don't like heavy metal at all. Don't be an idiot. Sheesh. I may not be a huge Korn or Papa Roach fan but I wouldn't go giving their albums 1.
I can neither confirm nor deny that I listened to the new Accept record, and I have no comment on if it may or may not be their best since Restless & Wild. :DAnd for interested parties, the new The Sword record is streaming on www.myspace.com/thesword
Funny you describe it as "monochromatic" - that's exactly how I feel, yet it's still my favorite record pending continued listens of TFF. I love the consistency, how it feels like a giant hour-long epic. That being said, TFF's variety is giving it a ton of re-spin value.
