Slow clap. I feel Brave New World had more than AMOLAD, and even that one wasn't bad about it at all: only on a few songs, and all of them melodically varied and interesting enough to make it a moot point.

Ok, ok, I recant.  One of the best shows I've ever been to.  I'm just saying the material isn't as intrinsically demanding as the coordination and execution of faster songs by a six-piece band like Maiden.  Dio was top-notch.  Also saw them rehearse in Van Nuys as part of a sweepstakes thing...

I understand where you're coming from.  I love The Longest Day; Greater Good, less so.  So would it be the song structures you don't like, or more of the repetitive choruses like Invader said?

Sounds about right to me.  I would probably give it an extra point or so,  if only because I seem to have enjoyed the first half of the album more.  You are right that it is much more colorful than AMOLAD. I liked that one a lot as a pseudo-concept album, but it is nice to have so much melodic...

This line puzzled me also.  I guess in the short term the eye is safe, but eventually you'll have to break through the rest of the storm.  Or maybe they're not being as literal, just calling the center of the storm the "eye"

I do agree that the universal themes shine through regardless of the specifical historical context, but it just adds a little flare for me, a little depth, to know what exactly is being sung about.  Aces High is a great example - for me, yeah, the themes of a desperate struggle of the "few"...
