Thanks @Onhell. This post perked me up! The meeting was not as bad as I thought it could be. They just want to support her more.
And thank you @MindRuler for the kind words!
I’m fed up at the moment. We are in the process of selling and buying a house which is stressful in itself. We also have a meeting with my daughter’s nursery today. It is a follow up from earlier in the year, but I think that they will try diagnose her with some form of SEND. She is a fidget and...
I have always loved the modulation to the major key during the ‘But still we walk into the village’ verse in Back in the Village. I remember it really caught me off guard when I first heard it. I think it goes to A major or a progression based around E mixolydian. Rock and pop harmony is always...
I don’t mind the Mandrake Project. I don’t think there are any terrible songs on the album. My only frustration is you can hear that Bruce used different vocal takes from over the course of 25 years. It is really obvious which takes were done pre and post cancer (just listen for the lisp in the...
The whole ‘Nicko is still in the band’ felt like the comment ‘let’s stay in touch’ you make to a colleague when they are leaving. You both know it’s not true but it is a nice thing to say.
The Revelations, Blood Brothers, Sign of the Cross and Flight of Icarus lineup was top drawer. Not as good a the run from Revelations to Icarus in 2018/19. That was outstanding.
I saw Maiden in 2022. The place didn’t really get into the gig until Icarus. I still loved hearing everything before it (I even liked Senjutsu live), but the setlist was not well paced. Plus the whole ‘moving house’ tearing the Senjutsu stage down looked ridiculous on daylight.
I agree. I also think that there is a correlation between weaker Iron Maiden albums and albums where Steve is the most dominant solo song writer. E.g. Virtual XI and Senjutsu. He needs others to thrive and Brave New World proved this.
