oh hype train, I'm hopping on. I'd really like the album to be called Bellshazzar's Feast. Its kinda freaky and different and admittedly a bit of a mouthful. Does sound like a Bruce Solo thing. Id prefer that then the album being called Writings on The Wall....guess I have Sam Smith's Bond song...
Yes Hardwired CD2 is quite bad for this. A pretty bloated and indulgent album. Again some killer stuff, but plenty of fat. Frustrating.
And yes Birch was that figure earlier in Maiden's careers, always love that story where he got Bruce to scream 20+ times for the right performance on NOTB.
Exactly. Steve is a very strong personality and leader, and now that they are all very comfortable with Shirley, I worry a little about that comfort zone. Shirley does a lot of albums with rocker friends of his, and I can appreciate that. I think thats where Maiden are with him now. They have...
I'm not so keen on having more and more songs, and a longer and longer album.
The longer it gets, the more chances of filler or just ok material gets on there. Thankfully there's never bad material, but there is often middle of the road stuff.
I wish they had a strong producer who would be tough...
I would personally LOVE to see an instrumental on the new album. I keep googling Iron Maiden 'New's in the hope of some kind of announcement, considering it was around mid June for TFF and BOS announcements. Tired of the Beer, Football, Video Games stuff
Worried that the album might...
I'd like to see Zbigniew M. Bielak (Ghost artwork) have a crack at a Maiden cover. I think he is one of the strongest visual designer/artists out there working in that genre. Sadly Riggs isn't the artist he used to be.
He did incredible work for Maiden back in the day, and helped forge their...
Well its a great album overall. Sadly there is some filler issues(like DoD)as well as riff rehash and edits needed, but there ya go.
My reunion rankings
1. BNW
2. AMOLAD
3. TFF, DOD, BOS
Hmmm On third listen. I'm still not sure. There's some cool stuff for sure. BOS, IESF EOTC, but a fair amount of it is just not catching me.
I don't knowo_O Keep listening of course. But my feeling at the mo, is BNW and AMOLAD are considerably better. I 'll make a more fair assesmant later
Im on my second listen right now. Still reserving judgement. My first impression was that there were some "possibly cool" melodies taking place that I couldn't make out. But I know I still need time with it
Going to the shop shortly to get the deluxe. Have the iTunes version right now.
Was wondering if there are any other extras? Was hoping for a "making of" vid, or a link to one?
F*@king hell. I'm done. Its 4:51 am. Just finished EOTC.
My mind is a jumble of mad impressions. EOTC was unbelievable. But such a hard album to grasp. Needs more time.
I'll set my alarm for a morning of BOS with coffee :D
I guess it's a lick, riff or repeated phrase that "hooks" you. Sticks in your head, makes you repeat in your brain. A catchy section I guess. Hooks in you
I think so. But its soooo much. And its all go go go, barely takes a breath. Wondering if it needs a breath/ or some light and shade somewhere. But I know from past experiences these albums take time to blossom..Think I need a break before I go to the last 3 songs. Phew!
MUUHUUHAAHAAAAAA! IT HAS APPEARED IN MY ITUNES. Dear God....Am I ready for this? digital booklet ready...check. Beer ready...check. Let the Book of Souls take me unto its pages
5...hours...to miiiiiidniiiiight. At least in Hong Kong. If I can't find the physical copy today, at least iTunes album may appear shortly after
12. I hope. OMG OMG OMG OMFG! Heeheeheee. I'm super psyched after watching this forum and all the amazing reviews recently.
My hands will threaten...
