    Now Playing (Video Games)

It's funny, I never liked the multiplayer modes of games like Call of Duty for this reason, but I absolutely adored DOOM: Eternal's story mode despite being very similar. Both have breakneck, frantic styles of playing where you have to react quick or die, but I found it frustrating in CoD and a...

What is new Alexander the Great?

It's obviously not an issue now he's not in the band, but I'm sure I've read a comment from Nicko saying that it was a really difficult song for him in particular.

Explain a Maiden song as poorly as possible

He says "corn" more than you'd expect in a metal song.

    Hallowed Be Thy Name

Bruce singing "Life down here is just a... strange illusiooooooooon" will always give me chills.

Can this still be real or just some crazy dream?

I've also had regular dreams about losing teeth (in one of them a tooth completely shattered in my mouth and I was pulling pieces of it out from my gums :S), I've read they can also be related to financial worry. Though, like you, I've had these dreams when I haven't been particularly stressed...

Maiden songs you find rather boring

I've ragged on it before, but a frustratingly boring song for me is The Man Who Would Be King, because there's some really good potential there but it really didn't need to be an epic. It's one of the rare times where I agree a Maiden song is too long and has an unnecessary long intro/outro, it...

Maiden songs you find rather boring

I believe there's only five? The Fallen Angel, No More Lies, El Dorado, The Red and the Black, Death of the Celts.

Maiden songs you find rather boring

Dave's back-to-back solos make Prodigal Son one of Maiden's most interesting songs.

Maiden songs you find rather boring

One thing I actually love about it is the way the tempo slightly increases later in the song as the tension and energy build. Compare the way the main heavy riff is played at the beginning and when it comes back in after Dave's solo, it's noticeably quicker the second time around.

Forget all the VXI worship, this is the worst thing you've ever posted.

Songs you love from bands you dislike.

One Day Like This by Elbow is a blight on humanity. I like me some Stereophonics (going to see them again in December), Mr Writer is indeed an excellent song. If you like that you might like Graffiti on the Train, it's got a similar darker, more sombre vibe.

    NOW WATCHING

Had a bit of a Halloween Spook-tacular this weekend... after Halloween night, as I was out  First I watched The Long Walk. I read the book a little while ago and really enjoyed it, the film is also pretty solid, though somehow even briefer than the book. I think it could've benefitted from...

Songs you love from bands you dislike.

This is kind of half-true. Chad has said that he analysed a popular song to figure out what made it so popular, but it was "How You Remind Me", his own song. This is my biggest gripe, the "stripper anthems" as the bass player calls them (he doesn't like them either). It's a shame that the...

Songs you love from bands you dislike.

There's a number of reasons floating around as to why Nickelback are so hated, "they're boring and generic", "their songs all sound the same", "they're popular and you can't escape their music", all of which apply to plenty of other bands that get off scot-free, the last point hasn't been true...

Songs you like by bands/artists you don't like

Clocks is probably the only Coldplay song I can say I actually like. Love the piano melody and Chris Martin's voice is (mostly) tolerable. Why? She seems to be one of the few "pop princesses" that rock and metal fans actually like, or at least respect. She's a metal fan, puts on an impressive...
