    Shadows Of The Valley

The introduction sounds a little too close to Wasted Years for my comfort, but it doesn't last long and when the song really gets going, the band fires on all cylinders and take no prisoners. The music sounds very tight and there is a great sense of synergy between the instrumentalists. Bruce...

    Death Or Glory

I like the main rhythm of the guitars and drums, very Running Free-esque. It's a decent rocker though I don't think it's as memorable as Speed of Light on the first disc. The melodies sound a little underwhelming and it's not as "singable" for me. Still, not a bad tune by any means. 7.25/10

The Book Of Souls (song not album)

A fantastic, spellbinding epic! Starts off with a haunting acoustic intro before going into a thundering riff which might be the closest I've heard Iron Maiden get to doom metal. Bruce Dickinson is at the peak of his powers throughout the song but especially during the chorus, which just sends...

    When The River Runs Deep

I really enjoy the fast, almost thrashy nature of the guitar and drum work on this song. The solos are also well done. Unfortunately the "now with nothing to hide going nowhere" section kind of ruins the vibe for me and slows things down when everything else is superb. Take that part out and I...

    The Red And The Black

The guitar work in the first half of the album reminds me a lot of Rime of the Ancient Mariner, but not as if it was stealing from it, more like they're channeling a fountain of youth of sorts. The first couple of verses are really hard to sing, but the way Bruce spits out these really fast...

    The Great Unknown

The intro is wonderfully ominous and sort of reminds me of the intro to Starblind from the last album. The riff work is great and Bruce gives a very agonized performance as if foretelling people of horrible things that are about to befall them. The solo starts to lose me a little bit as I find...

    Speed Of Light

A solid catchy single. Every time I play it, it grows on me and I enjoy it a little more. The chorus is very memorable and the song overall is probably the most "accessible" on the album. Great for live shows (I can confirm from seeing them play it last year). 8.25/10

    If Eternity Should Fail

An amazing opening song/anthem! The introduction is very foreboding before exploding and settling into a confident, steady pace. Bruce Dickinson sounds larger than life (even more than usual) and the other band members play their instruments with skill and precision. The Drop D tuning is also a...

Redeemer of Souls Vs. The Book of Souls

The newest Judas Priest album is alright, there's some really good songs on it, but I don't think it's truly great all the way through, no offense to them. The newest Iron Maiden album on the other hand has pretty much become one of my favorites of theirs. Empire of the Clouds, Red and the...

The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

Very exciting! The new album is fantastic and I'll be seeing them on April 16th in LA. It'll be my 2nd Maiden concert. :)

    The X-Factor or Virtual XI

X Factor hands down. The songwriting is better and the dark atmosphere suits Bayley's voice much more. I like some songs off Virtual XI (Clansman, When Two Worlds Collide, Futureal) but there are some crappy songs on there too (Angel and the Gambler, DL2tEoaS) and it's just not as exciting overall.

    Your First Maiden Gig ?

I'm one of the newbies, having first seen them with a few of my friends on August 10, 2012 when I was getting ready for college (though i've known about the band and their music for much longer than that) at Irvine Meadows/Verizon Wireless Amphitehater. My profile pic is from that show.

Based on how this is worded, we very well could get a 90's history tour.

I don't think they'll be doing another tour based on the 90s, since it's widely considered their commercial low point, and at this stage in their career, it's probably a bit too risky to invest in something not too many people will be enthused with. They probably have some personally bad...

How many Iron Maiden live songs have you witnessed at (an) Iron Maiden gig(s)

Since I can only vote once and not be able to change it, I want to wait on that until I see another show, or if Iron Maiden announces their break up early. So i'll just post the songs I've seen first before giving a final vote. Here's the songs I've seen (I'll update it if I see more shows in...

who has been more important to the band? Adrian or Dave?

It's kind of hard to say, I personally think they're both equally important but in their own way. Dave has been around much longer than Adrian and has been on all of the band's albums, although Adrian has contributed much more to the songwriting than Dave. I think they both have their own...

One of Bruce's rants has apparently stirred up a lot of hate (SPOILERS)

Yeah, I'd be pissed too if I see someone in the crowd texting during the entirety of a show, especially when I have all this awesome gear and pyros and animatronics behind me that you came to watch in the first place. I probably wouldn't say it out loud, but then again I'm a rather introverted...

Where can i find a version of "when two worlds collide" bruce dickinson

Bruce never sang it unfortunately, a shame, since I really enjoy that song.

Is Iron Maiden the biggest metal band in the world right now?

Pretty much, at least they are the biggest one that gets the most respect from metalheads. Technically I think Metallica is the most successful based on tickets, album sales, and so forth, but there's tons of metalheads who cynically claim that they "sold out", and that Maiden worked very hard...

    If Bruce never left...

I think if Bruce had stayed, the entire band would probably just collapse under it's own weight really and they would cease to be a band based on the inner turmoil between him and the band. On the other hand if Blaze had stayed with the band less and less people would have bought their albums...

    Best Live Maiden song

Out of the frequently played songs, I loved hearing The Trooper live, and out of their lesser-played songs, Afraid to Shoot Strangers and 7th Son definitely hit the spot. They definitely set a great mood live, and sound even better than their studio counterparts.
