Had a hectic day today…three hour interview, second Covid vaccination, two hour meeting with supervisor, lost my dog at the shops then found him. Am now happy to have settled in at home and read from page 14 to 31 of this chat as a reward for a long day. Thanks for all the posts folks! Now going...
The new Senjutsu Eddie is spectacular and his four extra canines have grown on me (not literally). They look great. Love the cover. I wonder what the Japanese script on the right stands for?
So many epics in the track list. Happy with each of the writing credits, song titles and length of...
Not sure about those shops. I’m in Australia but have family in Virginia so visited Tracks in Georgetown many times in the 80s-90s. Went to a metal festival out at Jiffy Lube too!
I seriously read that last part as “Enjoy urinary tract infections” before realising what you meant.
I’m about 60 spins in now I think. Wish Spotify kept a plays count. Maybe they do.
Ok, I’ve had my fill of that Powerslave 2 and Maiden v Metallica discussion now but do appreciate the debate.
Three days now of solid listening to The Writing On The Wall…
I find it more comparable to his style in Starblind or WTWWB where he remains in mid-range but really gets into...
Yes, but at a slower rate than most humans. I feel I’ve aged 27 years since Covid began.
And as evidenced when last playing live on LOTB they still have the ability to play their 80s rockers (TETMD, The Trooper etc) at a faster pace than the recorded version.
At the moment my ears are loving the guitar melody in the left channel during “Can you see them ridiiiiinng? Can you see them ridiiiinng?”. Especially during the second time the chorus is played. It’s low(ish) in the mix, but clearly audible and it’s bloody amazing to my ears.
Track #2 or #3 makes sense to set up the rest of the album. It could also work at the end of the album to wrap things up…such epic, apocalyptic lyrical content and emotive music inspiring hope for the future (particularly the solo section).
I’d be very happy for this song to be the title...
Exactly. It’s a short solo, almost an exclamation point. I love how he slides down the neck atleast three times around licks. And there’s nice vibrato too.
I’ve been trying to pinpoint what makes this track unique and I think it has “swagger” or groove. Perhaps The Legacy has some swagger and...
Such an anthemic chorus from Bruce. Apocalyptic and inspiring and hopeful all at once.
I can’t help categorising the song alongside Coming Home, Out of the Shadows and Man of Sorrows perhaps because of the acoustic guitar and tempo…in comparison The Writing on the Wall sounds immense and epic...
Seven listens to the song in a row on Spotify and I’m feeling love for it already. And can tell Bruce loves singing it. Has a bit of a Dio vibe. There are plenty of layers of guitar within it to discover. It’s cool.
3am for me. Alarm set for 2:55am and will watch from bed with my trusty greyhound sleeping by my side.
Looking forward to hearing all the new guitar solos and galloping riffs!!
TROBB is one of my favourite all time Maiden songs. I love the haunting opening (reminds me of Pink Floyd’s Sorrow), the crushing heavy midpaced riffs and Dave’s melodic solo. Hope it is included in the setlist for their Belshazzar Feasts Around the World tour 2022.
