How many Maiden songs are in E Minor?

Last one for now. This is my take on "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son". I'm not a music theory expert and corrections are welcome: "Moonchild" - I think this is mostly E minor. You briefly get E-C-D ("be the devil's own, Lucifer's my name") but I think that's it. "Infinite Dreams" - mostly E minor...

How many Maiden songs are in E Minor?

My take on "Somewhere in Time": "Caught Somewhere in Time" - in E minor, a typical example of the E-C-D chord progression "Sea of Madness" - in E minor, but that progression isn't used "Wasted Years" - in E minor, they come close but don't use this exact progression anywhere "Heaven Can Wait" -...

How many Maiden songs are in E Minor?

I'm not an expert in music theory either, but here's my take on "Piece of Mind": "Where Eagles Dare" - in E minor, but that specific chord progression isn't used (a lot of E-D-C though) "Revelations" - in A minor (but the verse is in the equivalent chord progression of A-F-G) "Flight of Icarus"...

It looks like Killers is open now, not Brave New World - right?

    Death Of The Celts

This is my attempt at creating a bass tab for "The Death of the Celts". As far as I'm aware, this is the first bass tab anyone has put together for this song. I stand by my previous comments that this is Harris's most interesting and challenging performance since at least 2000. Corrections are...

Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

I have the Steve Harris royal blue Fender p-bass (ie the one he plays on "Live After Death", "Maiden England", etc). Has anyone owned/played that instrument, and also the Fender Olympic white bass (ie the one he plays on "Rock in Rio", "En Vivo", etc)? Aside from the difference in colour (and...

    Longest instrumental passages

I believe it's "Satellite 15... The Final Frontier" (2:32). The other non-instrumental songs that open with 2+ minute instrumental passages are "The Parchment" (2:09) and "Empire of the Clouds" (2:06).

    Hardest Maiden song to play?

In general, Maiden songs in the 21st century are easier to play on bass than songs from the eighties and nineties, as Harris became more formulaic. Still, the hardest 21st century Maiden songs to play on bass would probably consist of: "Dream of Mirrors". Yes, two-thirds of the song is very...

    Longest instrumental passages

I updated the list. There are four instrumental passages on "Senjutsu" that are 3+ minutes long, all of which are on the 2nd disc. Two things to note. First, "The Parchment" is the first & only song in Maiden's catalogue that features two 3+ minute instrumental passages. Second, "Hell on Earth"...

    Death Of The Celts

I'm trying to piece together how to play this song on bass guitar. This might be Harris's most fun, interesting and challenging performance of the entire reunion era.

    The Angel and the Gambler

I've (voluntarily) listened to that a few times. After 25 minutes, the song becomes trancelike. It's like The Simpsons bit where Sideshow Bob steps on the rakes over and over again. It's stupid, but they repeat it so many times, it somehow becomes funny again.

Please post reviews and thoughts on Senjutsu here

What stands out to me is this is Harris's most inspired, engaged bass playing since at least "Brave New World" (and probably even farther back). This album will be a lot more fun and challenging to learn how to play on bass compared to the last few.

    Judas Priest

A rough comparison: "One Shot At Glory" - one of their greatest songs, never played live before. Probably equivalent to Maiden playing "Alexander the Great" (and they started the show with it! Imagine a Maiden concert is about to start and you hear wind, then "My son ask for thyself...") "Rocka...

    Iron Maiden Statistics

I like the stats but I don't think many of these songs (such as The Unbeliever, El Dorado, Isle of Avalon, If Eternity Should Fail and The Great Unknown) have anything that resembles a bass solo. Even a few of the songs with particularly complex and prominent bass parts (The Duellists, The...

    Guess The Iron Maiden Song!

You got it. It was a "final draft" in the sense that it was an updated version of "Invasion" (released on the Soundhouse Tapes in 1979).

Thanks for that. Let's try this again: Clue 1: a final draft

    Guess The Iron Maiden Song!

Well, that didn't last long. That's correct - "Virus" was released in 1996 and a computer virus was used in "Independence Day" (released that year) to defeat the aliens. Too specific for a first clue?

    Guess The Iron Maiden Song!

First time posting the clues, let's see how this goes. Clue 1: the year this song was released, humanity used it (at least, a variant of it) to defeat alien invaders
