  1. Murder of Rue Morgue

Edguy / Avantasia / Tobias Sammet

Been rediscovering Theater of Salvation - Mandrake - Hellfire Club lately. Tobi's talent for chorus writing and arranging is unmatched. On Mandrake in particular he did an awesome job.

What if Adrian played/wrote some of Janick's solos?

Regardlessly of when the riff goes back to, wasn't it confirmed that The Mercenary is a leftover from VXI? PS — The rhythm under H's solo is pretty much a rewriting of the solo section of The Unbeliever, which totally sounds like Steve wrote it.

  5. Murder of Rue Morgue

    Best Live Album?

One and only answer: An absolutely INCREDIBLE show, conceived and played to sweep you away from the first to the last minute. They could have played for six hours that night. Adrian's thundering opening chord for The Wicker Man and his epic solo on The Mercenary. Bruce's sudden jump high on...

What if Adrian played/wrote some of Janick's solos?

Well as I said, in order to completely hide H's contributions they got to keep on trying to write a new song, but since time was running up I assume they might've decided to include it 'cause "c'mon guys, this is the last". I tried to come up with an answer that completed the pre-chorus of When...

Which they also referred to in another song, seven years later. Look for the Trout.
  8. Murder of Rue Morgue

What if Adrian played/wrote some of Janick's solos?

My point is that there's no use in thinking they were 'hiding' Adrian's contributions. He left, they were authorized to release HIY, they recorded the final take and gave the solo to the new guy. End of the story. Note also that H isn't credited in any other way for the album (no "guitars on...
  9. Murder of Rue Morgue

What if Adrian played/wrote some of Janick's solos?

I'm sure that's the reason, considering they credited the song to Adrian.
  10. Murder of Rue Morgue

What if Adrian played/wrote some of Janick's solos?

After Sun and Steel (written by H but Dave takes the solo) and Hooks in You (written by H, but Janick takes the solo).

Jesus Christ did I really just see the guy who wrote Travel in Stygian dressed up like an Apple Store manager?

    The Apparition

Been asking myself the same question for years. My answer is that they (Steve) merely wanted to fill the space in the CD and literally had nothing else.

To each their own, Jon Schaffer might not be the brightest bulb BUT The Dark Saga is a great album, Dante's Inferno has many great ideas and riffs, The Wicked Trilogy and Gettysburg are great as well, and Alive in Athens is one of my favorite heavy metal live albums (its version of Travel in...

  20. Murder of Rue Morgue

Simon Dawson is the new drummer

Well this is Dawson's biggest gig in his entire life, obviously he's preparing himself. Agree. He has some points but the general vibe is "Steve should've chosen my son 'cause he's my son".
