    Where Eagles Dare

Well you learn something new about IM every day. I didn't stop to read the band changes each album and simply assumed he's been there since the first album. Well then... Nicko came out with a bang in this song ;)

    Rime of the Ancient Mariner

I feel like a pirate living in 13.5 minutes of complete and utter bliss. 10/10

    Powerslave

The final two songs on powerslave, including the title track, are instant classics the moment the sound waves graced my eardrums. Nothing needs to be said about them really. It's not even up for debate. 10/10 I do love how the song Powerslave makes you feel like you're inside of an egyptian...

    Back in the Village

Unfortunately this is the only blemish on the entire powerslave album. The vocals are annoying and the chorus seem repetitive. If we made an album of IM filler songs, this would be on it. Unlike flash of the blade, this one isn't growing on me. 7/10 due to the guitar solo redeeming it some.

    The Duellists

Another pleasant surprise like Still Life on the last album. The vocals aren't as memorable as many classics, but this song is saved by the outstanding guitar work in this song. 9/10

    Flash of the Blade

I didn't care for this song upon first listen. It felt like filler. It gets better with each listen and has grown on me. The fencing theme is pretty cool too. One of Bruce's many hobbies. The vocals by Bruce make this song so magnificent. He belts it so high and I love it. From a 5 or 6 to a 9/10.

    Losfer Words (Big 'Orra)

This stands out as probably the best instrumental since Transylvania on the debut album. I do not understand why this song is so hated. I really think some just hate any and all instrumental songs. The song title made me chuckle too, "losfer words", get it? 10/10
  8. 22 The Avenue

    2 Minutes to Midnight

A good song overall and more of the great IM catchiness. It has some of the radio-friendly feel to it I don't like though, but then lines like "to kill the unborn child in the womb" say otherwise. Not one of the best on this album, but that's not saying much. 7 out of 8 are good songs IMO. 9/10
  9. 22 The Avenue

    Aces High

I love this song and it is a great intro to a magnificent album. Powerslave is tied right now with NOTB as the best two albums. I can't decide. It's like picking a favorite kid. A catchy, sing along chorus that gets you up and ready. They started Flight 666 with this song and it was a good...

    To Tame a Land

This is one of the maiden "epics" to end an album but it just didn't feel epic to me. In fact, it didn't seem like a final track at all. It feels like it belongs in the middle of an album as a transition. It's still good though, just very clearly the "worst" of the epic songs to end maiden's...

    Sun and Steel

This song is slightly better than quest for fire, but still among the two worst songs on the album. They both just feel like filler songs as we wait for the final track. I'm just bored every time it comes on. A song shouldn't do that to me. 7/10
  12. 22 The Avenue

    Quest For Fire

So I don't get why this song is so disliked. It may be tied with Sun and Steel as the two worst songs on this album, but it's far from a 5 or lower. It almost feels like it could be a long lost Dio song. Don't get me wrong, it's not great. It's just not awful either. I heard worse songs on...

    Still Life

Still Life gets the award as being one of the most underrated IM songs. I suppose this is the "unofficial" title track of the album, since we hear the line, "Nightmares.....Will give me peace of mind.", even with a different spelling of "piece". I also like the reversible message at the...
  14. 22 The Avenue

    The Trooper

It's the Trooper. It's probably the second most recognizable IM track to a non-fan outside of Number of the Beast. It's a classic. Classics get 10/10.
  15. 22 The Avenue

    Die With Your Boots On

I agree that this song has a silly nature to it that is hard to overcome. The chorus is catchy, but also perhaps a tad corny/repetitive. It is still a fun song though and that helps. Great guitar solo in the middle/end. 8/10
  16. 22 The Avenue

    Flight of Icarus

This song is classic. The chorus is just way too damn catchy to not love it. It makes me feel like i'm actually Icarus flying around. That alone earns it a 10/10.
  17. 22 The Avenue

    Revelations

I feel bad for not enjoying this song as much as many others appear to do. It just doesn't have the immediate classic feel to me that many other songs do upon first listen. It has slowly grown on me with each repeated listen. They seem to perform this on every live show I've seen so far. It is a...

    Where Eagles Dare

I don't often stop and notice the drum work in a song, but wow, this might be Nicko's best so far throughout this discography. Another great, fast paced song to start a pretty good album. From a lyrical standpoint, this song is too similar to that of "Flight of Icarus". The eagles, flying...

Maiden Songs That Are Growing On You

I'm still just getting into IM. I'm now 1/3 of the way through, all the way through the marvelous powerslave. One song on that album that I thought was a filler song at first listen was Flash of the Blade. The more and more I hear this song, the more I love it. It is then followed by the...

    As I Lay Dying

Wovenwar is pretty good. I like their debut album. It's certainly a vocal departure from AILD, but I like that they chose to go down a different path. It's still the same great guitars and drums I know and love from AILD, with more radio friendly vocal melodies. Fans that expect the same Tim...
