I always love Nicko playing with Maiden, but I think he basically should enjoy his retirement instead. Simon is the drummer now.
And to be honest, we might not even get any more studio material from Maiden
There was a warning on the big screens like 15 minutes before the show, something like: Please put your phone away during the show, to respect the band and the rest of the audience.
It had some effect, but still a bunch were filming away at the show I attended. It should have been done ever...
Bruce were trying to make the folks around the toilets to join in. It was fine upfront, but it was a festival and lots of people who were there just to get drunk and brag to their friends that they have been at the festival
Definetly Best of the beast, as it has a new song and a few rarities on limited versions, that is always a good thing when you are releasing a compilation. Plus for cool cover
Ed hunter have a game, it was cool back then, but otherwise standard compilation album.
The rest…if you are a new fan...
I just came home from the gig in Trondheim. Since this was a early date, I decided to go offline from May 1st, other than work related, just to get the experience by not knowing the setlist. I can highly recommend that! No real big surprises, but great way to start with Murders in the rue morgue...
Live after death: Legendary
A real live one: Dissapointing
A real dead one: Dissapointing part 2
Live at Donington: Too fast
Rock in Rio: Great
Beast over Hammersmith: Hidden gem
Death on the road: Underrated
Flight 666: Awesome setlist
En Vivo: Okay
Live chapter: Cool
Nights of the dead: Flat
These are my opinion only:
Iron maiden have done what they want always, in large thanks to Rod they have been successful at their own premises. I think they did well, and still do very well with their tactic. They have never chased "writing a hit song".
Judas priest have done that several...
John Mayer, Jonsi (Sigur Ròs), Steve Rothery, Tracy Chapman, Frank Zappa, Robert Fripp, Joni Mitchell, Prince, Jeff Buckley, George Harrison, Derek Trucks, Fay Wildhagen, Jerry Garcia
He have talked about Bruce forever now. I guess he don’t do other people’s music anymore, other than the few things he’s done with Deep purple and Ian Anderson
I’m a sucker for GNR and related bands, I think they have a couple of awesome ballads, as well as Slash’ solo band. So are classic Skid row, many good ballads on the first three albums
Helloween - The Hansen era definetly. I personally also love Better than raw, but The time of the oath is more classic and quintessential release.
Stratovarius- definetly not Fourth dimension. Episode however, also Visions, Destiny and Infinite are superb.
Agree about Blind guardian. Could...
I voted Schaffer, Nugent and Simmons.
Yeah, Ulrich and Rose are two big douchebags, but the other three are in a league of their own. Honourable mention to Timo Tolkki, he have stolen money from his fans, not only once but now twice as well
Their booking fee is bigger than normal. And no I’m pretty sure Toby is a full time musician, having written 20 albums give you some songwriter royalties.
This could be good. Everything before the 90’s and 2003-2011 are already well documented, but hopefully they will go more into some lesser known eras of the band as well, and don’t repeat too much the old stuff
