That’s the worry … wish they hadn’t already left it so long. Steve’s literally gone from his early 60s with Senjutsu to 70 when they get round to the next one.
He had a damn good go with Accident of Birth and Halford Resurrection!
I agree TCW as a special one-off, but he hit three home runs in a row with these albums 1997 - 2000.
I agree with you that Roy Z may in fact be far beyond his peak, and he seems a bit of a mess in some interviews as well, so Roy doesn’t seem to be adding chemical wedding era (or halford resurrection era) levels of awesomeness these days.
The thing about Bruce’s current band is this.
It...
Knebworth support bill is better for a hard rock or pop/rock fan than it is for a metal fan. To be fair, that should widen the appeal of the show and attract a more general hard rock / Planet Rock radio crowd, which is probably a bigger plus than the real metal (ie Bloodstock) crowd would be...
I have been once, to Sonisphere 2010. There were free festival coaches to / from the train station. Badly organised but it was do-able.
Didn't go to Sonipshere 2014 (was feeling pretentiously mature and was arms length in my fandom at that stage ... ;)
Not sure how I feel about this one. If...
This has been an occasional problem for Maiden, about relative levels of enthusiasm and split focus. It was worst in 1990 when Bruce penned some truly lazy lyrics for Maiden.
The fear is Mandrake and the sequel have become the greatest things since sliced bread in Bruce’s head. I do get it...
Some of my concern circulates around this. I like Senjutsu a great deal but they have settled into a groove with the reunion era that is starting to feel stale. Maybe Steve cannot write for Maiden in any other way now, 'glueing' ideas that Janick or others bring to the table into mini-epics , or...
'compelling points' that are very likely statements of the obvious.
I'll never understand why channels like this become fonts of wisdom, they know nothing more than any of us.
The better analogy is AC/DC simply in terms of patterns of activity, given the scale Maiden want to top out as a...
Hoping for deflection, but also remember that the 2026 run is the first Steve will conduct as a 70 year old.
In fact, next year's dates are the first Maiden have ever played with a member other than Nicko who is in his 70s.
Steve may be feeling very different about new material at his age (he...
Sadly, yes. Bruce Mandrake and sequel seems to have captured his imagination. Steve seems overly burdened by the idea of making a new Maiden album.
I wish someone could tell Steve that it doesn’t have to be a double album of 7 - 13 minutes intricate epics. That it could be a simpler set of...
That’s the impression I get, that making albums is more than before a real burden for Steve. He said something along those lines regarding Book of Souls as a I recall. Whereas live is the fun bit it seems.
my view on what this says about the future of maiden depends somewhat on the rest of the world tour. Is it really extensive? Are we talking May through to August?
Is this now covering all territories, North America, South America, Asia, all in one go?
Hmmmm….. not what I was hoping for since there’s no mention of new material and also a year off from live shows.
I really hope 2027 is a recording year and I don’t rule out Eli’s suggestion of two back to back albums.
Really is the longest gap ever in new material. No suggestion they are...
Back on topic: we are three days away from that UK metal hammer feature on Maiden. Maybe there’s no grand announcement yet but some clarity on next years plans is surely coming as soon as this week.
Thank you.
An absolute hidden gem of a Maiden song, and Blaze spits out the lyrics with real charisma. The instrumental section is one of my favourites of their career.
I think many fans fully appreciate that the reunion albums, esp the last two, are so long that the inconsistent quality of the material is very obvious.
Whether this moves four of them to the bottom five of Maiden’s catalogue is a bold conclusion to draw from that inconsistency! But fair play...
