For me, the Infinite Dream reprise detracts a bit. It also suffers from the "mid tempo malaise" that inflicts so many reunion era tunes. Lyrically, it's very strong though.

Yeah, that's why I'm sure that Dave's fingerprints are over more Maiden songs that what is implied by the credits. Flash of the Bade has to have involvement from either him or Adrian.

I know the band will never do it, but I wish they would release a candid 'Metallica style' video session of them writing. I wonder if Bruce self edits prior to coming in to make it more 'Maiden-y', or if he just presents his ideas and relinquishes control to Steve. I've also always wondered...

This has come up in other threads, but I've always been highly suspicious of the song writing credits in Maiden. Did Bruce really write Powerslave from top to bottom (when what evidence I can find suggests he's never really been that adept at guitar)? Does Steve really write every guitar...

I love POM... but as much as I love TTAL, I always felt it sounded a bit out of place with the rest of the record. For that reason, POM isn't my absolute favorite (though it's still a marvelous record).

The weird thing for me is that SIT is my favorite album, yet neither side 1 or side 2 would win for me in these "battle threads". I think it's just the flow of the entire album that does it for me.

That's a good thread idea. POM vs SSOASS is too close to call for me for the battle of side 1s. They are both awesome. Interestingly enough, they are structured very similarly (frantic opener, big build up rocker, radio ready single, and big anthem).
