And I said multiple times it's fine and valid for you to prefer one performance over the other but Nicko's playing got so bad that it derailed multiple shows and many songs were utter trainwrecks. This has not happened with Simon. In fact, as I already mentioned, the exact opposite happened...
I'm. Not. Talking. About. Artistic. Taste.
I made it very clear that preferring one playing style to another is subjective and fair. I wrote that multiple times.
Nicko's decline is not subjective. It is an objective fact. He had to simplify the grooves. His tempo was utterly inconsistent and...
But we aren't taking a PR statement at face value; we are taking Nicko at his word. We are interpreting his jokes as what they are: Jokes. We have close to half a century of documented interviews to analyze how he talks, how he answers questions and how he comes across. He's always been...
Maiden are historically not shy of airing dirty laundy. Paul bad-mouthed them for decades. Both Bruce and Steve talked shit about one another in the late 90s prior to the reunion. Again, there is ZERO indication for there being any bad blood between the entities.
Uh no, I have to push back...
Funny thing about Ghost, I saw them open for Maiden back in 2013, didn't know them at all but remember absolutely hating them on that day. They also didn't sound anything like they do nowadays, or at least that's how I remember them. Listening to their stuff nowadays it's pretty inoffensive. I...
Eh, once again Occam's razor and all that. At this moment there is absolutely no indication for there having been any bad blood between Nicko and the rest of Maiden, whatsoever. Such a claim requires at least some kind of evidence, which currently doesn't exist. It's closer to a conspiracy...
Yeah, the floor screens/platforms/whatever you wanna call them were perfect. Allowed a lot of visual changes with barely any effort.
The giant screen was a bit mixed for me. Some songs were amazing, others didn't quite work for me. Powerslave for example had a good concept, but the animation...
Fair points! And I can concede that on average the reunion material probably suffers more from the issues Eddies's Uncle mentioned. I think that the difference between the eras isn't as large as originally presented though.
Whether you like it or not is totally subjective, but BB has a completely different goal. It's an epic, not a short rocker. Given its runtime the chorus barely takes up any time. I also mentioned The Wicker Man as another example, which is a more apt comparison and only repeats its chorus one...
Eeeh, that's rather selective and doesn't hold up to scrutiny. You mention Deja Vu which has two distinct lines that are repeated over and over. The exact same thing applies to Blood Brothers or The Wicker Man. Brave New World (the title track) goes a step further, flips the lyrics and...
Funnily enough QFF is similar to TLOTLDR for me in the sense that I ignore the goofy lyrics and appreciate the music and melodies. I absolutely adore its instrumental section, and the guitar tone for the solos in particular is just glorious. One of my favorites on POM because of that!
Sun And...
Nah, Sea Of Madness is the weakest, Stranger is my second least favorite :D
HCW is filled with great melodies and the entire middle section is awesome.
Deja Vu is one of their best rockers.
TLOTLDR might have bad lyrics, but the song itself is one of their best for the entire 80s and my...
Heaven Can Wait is a banger, faaar from being the weakest. That honor goes to Sea Of Madness, followed by Stranger. Both those songs have phenomenal solos, but I don't really care for the rest of them.
Agreed on all points. It's just a bit funny to me that Bruce would call out NPFTD for sounding like shit multiple times over the years, but then we get something like TMP three decades later.
NPFTD's production is a step down from SSOASS, but it sounds so much better than the Blaze albums or...
Same! NPFTD and CSIT are the only title tracks for the first 9 albums that weren't played live this year (CSIT at least had a couple years to itself in 23/24).
