Countdown to Senjutsu. 17 albums in 17 days.

totally agree. Killers is (somehow?) underrated. the songs are more mature than debut, the playing is more precise, the attitude is more metal than punk but still has the punk feel...everything is just more...more. i'll listen to Killers over IM any day if only bc it doesn't have "Iron...

that album cover is nothing short of iconic!!! hard for me to pick between Killers, TNOTB and Powerslave as THE singular best Maiden cover. they are all 3 just epochal in metal - but, yeah, Killers is the most "hardcore/brutal" cover Maiden has done

Please post reviews and thoughts on Senjutsu here

good collection of reviews up there! i'm purposely NOT reading the details...just ratings. seems to be a solid 8 right now which is fantastic. i'm expecting this to be in DOD/AMOLAD territory and an improvement (for me) over TFF and BOS. i like all those albums but i'm hoping for something...

    Senjutsu - 3rd September 2021

Not sure if anyone has posted this news yet but BraveWords.com posted their review of new album. I NEVER agree with BW on reviews so I'm excited about their rating - likely means it will be good!

new found appreciation for NPFTD lately. especially title track. forgot that i really, really like that song. i've listened completely the following lately: NPFTD, FOTD, SIT, Powerslave and DOD

    Iron Maiden Statistics

^ definitely but i guess i mean non festival settings. like largest crowds in their album/comp touring history. i'm guessing like 70k in S. America somewhere.

Which Maiden songs we should consider as a ballads/power ballads ?

indeed! dokken wrote some great power ballads but that one is one of the best imo. and george's searing solo is the epitome of shred and feeling combined!

What is your favorite Album Cover art - best to worst (singles not included).

    1. Powerslave (probably THE greatest rock album cover!!!) 2. NOTB (just damn iconic and scary as shit as a kid) 3. Killers (just brutal - easily the nastiest Maiden cov') 4. Seventh Son (artsy yet rad - just, um, "cool" lol) 5. POM (Pit Bull Maiden - you don't want this Eddie dog on yer ass) 6...

Which Maiden songs we should consider as a ballads/power ballads ?

if you read all my comments i agreed that Maiden has NEVER actually written a power ballad. WY is thematically similar to power ballads in that is about love/longing/loss. they often touch on the latter two but NEVER hit on love but Adrian was clearly writing a letter back home with that song...

    Your Maiden blasphemy

P.S. - RIP Cliff just having a bit of fun with your substantial legacy!

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Steve Harris is clearly holding back Maiden at this point. He really, really needs to gracefully step down or be forcibly removed. And, yes of course, Trujillo is the obvious replacement...well ahead of Ellefson or Newsted. But, honestly?, Cliff Burton would really shine in this band - what's...

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Maiden should bring back Stratton and add KK since he obviously regrets leaving Priest. What's better than 3 guitarists in a metal band? 5 guitarists, that's what

    Your Maiden blasphemy

Bring Your Daughter To The (Mark) Slaughter is easily the most poignant, contemplative, and thoughtfully political satire song in the last 31 years. Not just in metal but in ANY genre. Wasted Years is such a colossally boring, insipid, tedious play to the "power ballad" fad that Maiden so...

    Terrible setlist

yeah, it's a kick-ass song but (like a lot of Maiden last 25 years !!) they have totallyl unnecessary bloat to start the proceedings. they should at least provide an edit of such tracks that gets right to business

    Terrible setlist

Since this is all for fun I'm just going to throw some random "this is the song that I'm currently skipping" laundry list and I won't be touching the easy victims (you know who they are): 1. Iron Maiden (pls...enuff lol) 2. Half of TBOS (they all sound the same)...but... 3. Speed of Light...

    Janick's role in post-reunion Maiden

i personally don't care for his live histrionics on the fretboard (too spinal tap-ish) but Janick is a GREAT personality and a very good player with a very different style than Adrian and Dave. A&D will ALWAYS be the legends of the three but Janick has earned his spot in the lineup and he...

Which Maiden songs we should consider as a ballads/power ballads ?

yeah, i guess i'm more just playing along with the "IF you had to label any Maiden songs power ballads..." argument. i agree, Madien has never really done a power ballad or ballad for that matter...just not their thing and probably a big reason why they've always been "true metal" despite...
