Loving the album! The Parchment reminds me of something from The Tea Party (The Edges of Twilight) but I cant quite place it- every time I hear the Parchment that dang album comes into my head.

Is this something that 'should' have been edited out, or is this type of thing more commonly edited out?

There is an odd sound at 9.47 of Hell on Earth, is this from the bass? Not a musician, but it sticks out to me each listen... seems like it should have been cut out?

To each their own, but I have no idea how you can assign letter grades after one listening. It so complex and multifaceted.

Just letting it soak in, and man- every listen I find a new wrinkles to enjoy. I am still just in love with the chores at 1.20 of the title track. Such majesty and gravitas! Triumphant and even somber. This is an album of musicians completely comfortable with themselves.

All I know is I am really liking the album. For me, its a great improvement over TBOS. Where it ranks with others? I dont know- it will take a month (or more) for the dust to settle, but I am really liking the melodies and some of the surprises! To those ranking the album among the others-...

I think 'pointless' is a strong word- but I do think the song could lose those elements without sacrificing anything.

I agree- although none of the Steve epics are 'bad' I feel they are a little more expected than some of the other songs. The first part of the album has so many great (unexpected) moments- then the second half feels a little 'samey'- NOT BAD, just not as fresh or inspired as the first half...

I agree, this looks like a textbook case of Maidenitis. its a shame but not unexpected, I suspect it’ll be quite bad round these parts this year. In fact, many are saying it hasn’t been this bad since 2015.
