Bass and guitar lines and riffs are superb in this song. I love the way the intro buildsinto the main guitar melody too. The quick transition into the chorus is fine in my book and it's a decent if not brilliant chorus.
Gets slightly repetitive by the end though.

The beautiful central guitar melody and equally melodic verse shows a lot of thought went into it and proves to me it isnt filler. The acoustic outro is lush too.
Admittedly the chorus and instrumental dont hit the heights of the first 5 tracks though.

Wow.
Unbelievably slow hitting power in the verse riffs and vocals. Great passion in the early keyboard/guitar harmony. Great aggression in the chorus. The breakdown into the instrumental is beautiful too with Bruces wail and tumbling guitars.
Then comes 5 minutes of sheer brilliance. The soft...
Another brilliant song on this awesome album. Superb tempo and gallop in the verses, awesome work from Steve and Bruce here.
Then that wonderful soulful two part bridge might be the best they've ever done. All builds to that emphatic chorus which is superb. This has 3 songs worth of great...
I absolutely love this song and don't get some of the underwhelming comments on here.
I'm not actually a huge fan of the short upbeat rockers generally. But I think the chorus couplet is one of the best they've ever done. Especially the final chorus which has a wonderfully subtle tempo change...
Could have closed the album with this composition, such is the epic feel of it. Theres a gorgeous slow build with the bluesy, choppy rhythm then a magnificent long bridge into a wonderfully melodic showpiece riff which itself builds up to Bruce's scream.
This is really sensational songwriting...
Phenomenal intro with the acoustic lilt into jangly keyboards into thunderous drum roll into those aggressive vocals.
Brilliantly paced opener. There's a certain subtlety in the verses which I like too. Doesn't quite have the scope or a powerful enough chorus to be anything more than

Brilliant epic and the best song on the album.
It's an absolute masterpiece musically. I have to echo the comparisons to to Tame a Land. But this track has the edge because it has the great melodies and powerful chorus that tTaL was missing. The instrumental section is mindblowing.
I'm...
Another song on SiT which just falls short of greatness. Such a frustrating album for me.
I guess this is a personal thing but the synths are too high in the mix IMO. Also the chorus is a little bit tame for my liking and there's slightly dull guitarwork behind it.
With all that said, the...
Another mixed bag of a song from SiT. Absolutely love the staccato verse sections with the fast choppy riff. It's cool how it seems to mirror the rhythm of runnin. But the chorus is meh and the slow guitar harmony bits really weigh the song down.

Can't get into this one at all. The chorus is monotonous and I don't like the abrupt way the solos come in. The whoa whoa bit does nothing for me either although the 'take my hand' lead in is quite cool (but even that shifts into a key which is too high).

That intro is absolutely incredible. Ferocious work from Nicko and Steve. I love the fierce main riff too and the aggressive bass line. The chorus is a bit ponderous though as it seems to tame the power of the song and it doesn't seem to fit.

In theory I should like this song more than I do because I generally like the catchier and more radio friendly side of Maiden. But I think it's perhaps a touch too lightweight and I'm not keen on Bruce's vocal, it seems a tad too high.
Nevertheless it's quite anthemic and I'm a huge Adrian fan...
Like many songs on the album, this is a great song without quite making it into the absolute classics. I like the gallop, the solo is brilliant and I actually like the chorus that others have misgivings about. Also love the "eternally" bit.
I don't like the bridge though, the vocal seems...
What a vocal from Bruce. This is among my favourites of the more straightforward Maiden stuff, mainly due to the exhilarating build and superb chorus.

Found this difficult to rank. It's better that a lot of stuff on Powerslave but i find the chorus nowhere near as good as Aces High.
There's some good depth to the song in terms of the structure and I really like the lyric. It's a really good listen but falls short of their best work.
