Seems to really divide opinion this one but I must say I love it. But power ballads are a bit of a guilty pleasure anyway for me.
Despite the pacing there's a raw and soulful power throughout. Bruce's vocal is magnificent in an era when it generally wasn't. I love the simplicity and power of...
Another decent effort. One thing I like on this album generally is the almost singalong guitar melodies and this is another good one. I like the stripped down chorus with pounding drums and keyboards.
It's quite an experimental song and the novelty does kind of wear off after a few listens...
This is a really underrated song with a powerful subject. Some inspired guitarwork and riffing throughout and I like the dramatic build up and structure. There's something slightly 80s about it which I find myself liking without knowing why

Much, much better after the terrible start to the album.
Beautiful mellow verses and great lyrics. Sounds a bit Pink Floyd. Then that tremendous lead guitar melody around the chorus. Solid if unspectacular uptempo mid instrumental. Then back to the lush melody again. Great song with a powerful...

Some great work from Steve in the verses and there's some nice melodies.
I don't share the view that the Bruce rasp is more suited here. Sounds awful in places.

Their worst song to date. Embarrassing chorus and lyrics.
Just 2 years before he wrote this, Steve wrote 7th Son, which is a masterpiece. What on earth happened inbetween I can't imagine.

Strange one this. Better than most of the album but only by virtue of not being cheesy or outright poor.
It's ok, there's some good moments but it's all pretty unremarkable including the chorus. And the song title is cringe

Best song on the album. Really nice guitars, especially that little riff in the chorus section. Lyrics are nice too. But then there's a boring instrumental and it all fizzles out

Not one of the absolute stinkers on the album (High praise!). It chugs along nicely enough and there's an element to the verse vocals which sounds like Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan and that can only be a good thing.
But the vocals are awful and there's that terrible riff throughout...

I find it a slightly disappointing finale. I don't expect the same format on every Maiden album. But this is an incredible album and it deserves an epic ending, especially as this is supposed to be a full on concept. Something with greater scope was needed to develop and finish the story I...
