I think the Cali Series is now a de-facto Walnut backup. I think this set calls for more full-humbucker songs than TFP did (which was pure hot-rails). I assume the intent was to use Cali Series on full humbucker songs (Murders to Phantom, Rime and RTTH), while Walnut with Hot Rails would be used...
In other news, Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son from Glasgow is amazing (apart from an unusual hiccup from Dave at 32:20). I'd say this one is better than RAR 2014. This stage looks incredible indoors.

Could be. But the neck on walnut is a direct copy of the California Series Strat neck. Just made out of different material.
I'd say Walnut is a nickname. Otherwise, it would just be called "White" or something like that.
