Out of serious basses he had a Gibson Thunderbird and a Fender Jazz before Precision. Recording-wise in his entire discography, he only used two basses. His precision and the black Ibanez Roadster (with a PJ configuration). The Ibanez was used on half of Piece Of Mind.

It depends how you countvthe part. But yeah, you can say 1/8ths. Both handed hi-hat basically. It's just strange and the band almost imploded during this part on numerous occasions during this tour. As a guitarist, I consider that part as a "feel" part anf there should not be any count. Or if...
I like Simon's performance overall. It's good. But some things just baffle me. For example:
I have no bloody idea why Simon is counting this part like this on the hi-hat. If I was playing with him, it would confuse the hell out of me (also did confuse the band on numerous occasions this year)...
