Maiden songs everybody seems to like but you dislike?

I get your point, dickinson1978, however, the thread was more about songs a lot of fans like but disliked by the one or other, and I really can't see many people in here rating the second half of the DOD album high. But anyway, speaking about DOD, I have to say that No More Lies is one of these...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

Ever thought about Judas Be My Guide as an opener? Would work perfect imho. Or Only The Good Die Young. Both great openers, and if they wanna come up with a few surprises, the opening track is always a good slot for a surprise (and their concentration level is at maximum early in the show). So...

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

Wasting Love would be a nice opener.

Maiden songs everybody seems to like but you dislike?

Yes exactly. And an added long intro here and prolonged, repeated parts there doesnt make a song better or even progressive. I don't understand at all some people speaking about Maidens "proggy phase", I can't see anything progressive, but often just patchworks of parts for its own sake...

    The X Factor : 30 years on

To me it'd be a great album, it could have been among my top 3 Maiden albums, but the vocals ruin really everything. So it's among my 3 least favourite Maiden albums. A shame.

Maiden songs everybody seems to like but you dislike?

Are there any Maiden songs that everybody seems to enjoy but you dislike? For me it's definitely The Trooper, and it's been the last 40 years like that for me now. From the moment I got into Maiden until today I never got the hype around that song.

Which Maiden studio album has the best guitar sound in your opinion?

Same here. The guitars on POM made me dislike the album ever since. No gain, no power.

Two songs of a similar formula: Rainmaker versus Stratego - Which one do you like better?

Does this really annoy you so much? I think its's not THAT much of a problem. I mean, a guitar line under a vocal isn't THAT noticable often, so this not a BIG problem,at least not for me. 100% agreement to all your other points. Problems I have with the reunion era: Shirley as a producer...

Which Maiden studio album has the best guitar sound in your opinion?

I quite like how the quitars sound on TXF. All the Shirley-produced albums don't convince me at all. Even the remastered version of the debut tops his production imho.

Two songs of a similar formula: Rainmaker versus Stratego - Which one do you like better?

:nonono: It's Bruce doubling Janicks guitar.

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES WORLD TOUR (2025/2026)

Why was it actually like that? Being a European, I never got the point. Do the Americans have to go to bed early?

Two songs of a similar formula: Rainmaker versus Stratego - Which one do you like better?

Oh, and one other thing both songs have in common: They sounded both horrible when played live. And this was basically up to Bruce. Live he never came even close to the integrity of the studio vocals.

Two songs of a similar formula: Rainmaker versus Stratego - Which one do you like better?

Always found there's a lot of a same formula Stratego and Rainmaker are sharing. And both tracks are short rockers with the 2nd slot of their mother albums in common. Which one of the songs do you prefer?

And I was there that night

    Future past…..live album

About the perfection thing: They released DOTR as an official live album, Bruce was totally ill, so why not TFP with Nicko handicapped.

    Future past…..live album

I'm waiting for a Bruce solo documentary, documenting him on the road alone for his spoken word tour.

Moments you thought "Maiden sounding weird here"

What examples come to your mind when speaking about Maiden songs going weird? Classic example for me is the "gone are the days..." part in Total Eclipse. But I'm sure we can collect more.

NO PRAYER FOR THE DYING - Your thoughts…

The perfect topic for me. As many in here already know, NPFTD is my favourite Maiden album of all. I didn't really like the album when it came out, but over the years it has become my favourite. I just love it because of its rough edges while being very homogenous and consistent at the same...

the Iron Maiden method of songwriting

Well that explains a lot. I liked the old method better, track by track. In the result. Imagine Shirley would have produced the SIT album. :ninja:
