Uh, yes. From the original post (that you replied to):
I'm not complaining, but rather asked my question because I am genuinely surprised and curious (and of course disappointed), especially given [1] the six week gap after the Florida dates and [2] the note on their website that says more...
I thought they'd add more dates between April 17 and May 28, but with the tour starting in 6 days, it doesn't seem likely.
Why are we getting only two dates? Yes we got the 2000s tour last year, but that wasn't really a Final Frontier tour given that they played only El Dorado.
The new...
Reminds me of Out of the Shadows and Wasting Love: the singing style is cheesy on a ballad, the lyrics are trite, and it's musically uninteresting. To be fair, these songs are not as bad as Weekend Warrior, but they're still unlistenable.
Harris. You can hear his prog influence in almost every song.
Smith gets second place as his great riffs and catchiness are present in much of the album. Starblind and Isle of Avalon are so good that I forgive him for the horrible Coming Home and weak Mother of Mercy.
Coming in third is...
Not to be negative, but I don't understand why people like this song. To me it's by far the worst on the album... then again Dickinson's solo stuff never did much for me either. To each his own.
I would like them to play all of it. I gained a lot of respect for them when they did that for AMOLAD.
Having written that, Coming Home is crap, Mother of Mercy is weak, and Satellite 15 is weird and mediocre (but will be an appropriate intro before the show really starts with The Final...
Yes I am. The reunion albums have all been better than the 1990s albums and even stand up to 1980s Maiden. The new albums aren't as consistent as POM, PS, and SSOASS, but they're also much longer. Drop the weaker songs and you still have a normal album's worth of great music.
Nothing on TFF...
To clarify, I'm not really worried about it and my hope is that it's just them being more comfortable talking about this stuff openly as they age. But I was curious if other fans found it slightly disconcerting like I did.
To each his own. IMO the first 3 tracks are mediocre (worthwhile, but...
Smith and Dickison made some comments during the Mission Debriefing documentary indicating tension during the writing/recording (my impression/fear is that it was primarily between Smith and Harris). Smith (and everyone) emphasized the positive, and perhaps I'm reading too much into it... it...
Since my other favorite bands are Rush, Yes, and Bela Fleck, I enjoy Maiden's proggy/technical side and the last few albums have all had a lot of interesting music.
None of TFF tracks stood out after the first couple listens, and I started thinking that this might be a downward path from...
I've bought a few albums from Amazon and iTunes, but until now I've generally preferred getting physical media and a booklet. I planned on driving to my local music store Tuesday before work to buy The Final Frontier, but for some reason I woke up at 2:00 AM Tuesday with insomnia, so I started...
What do you mean by "between TFF listens"? Properly breaking in a new Maiden album requires exclusive listening for 1-3 weeks (depending on how good the album is) :D
I've heard it approximately 20 times since Tuesday and it gets better with each listen, with the exception of "Coming Home"...
