Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

Adrian Frederick Smith's guitar solo in The Prisoner.
  2. The Mid-Distance Runner

    Only the Good Die Young

A terrific song and could have been best song on the album except for the solos. Both solos are underwhelming for me, adding zero to the song and a little too bluesy for Maiden. fantastic song otherwise 8

Songs that should have been singles

These Colours Don't Run would have been a great follow up single to TROBB. Two "non-rocker" singles would have well suited the mood of A Matter Of Life And Death. A couple of reasons lead me to suspect that Maiden actually considered releasing it as a single: - it's placement as second song on...

The Book of Souls: General album discussion

I'm still listening to the album most days and am getting a strong urge to write a 9 month anniversary review very soon. On the laptop tonight I was procrastinating and messing around with the album art and came up with this cover and back...

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

I'm back bigger, better and more metal than ever!! \m/
  6. The Mid-Distance Runner

Tournament of Maiden Solos: the Top 10 video!

The pinch harmonics at the beginning of Adrian's Caught Somewhere In Time solo send my mind into orbit every time I hear it. This solo is the greatest piece of music created since neanderthals first banged wooden clubs against rocks.

    Hooks In You

    Now that's a great idea!

    The Apparition

Disagreeing. I've posted thoughts before...after waiting and waiting for this album to be released I was really dismayed after purchasing and spinning it (or pressing the play button on the CD player to be exact) as the entire album felt underwhelming. The Apparition was one of only two...

The boys were in great form and they were really enjoying themselves. Adrian and Bruce were smiling as much as Dave...which I thought was impossible! Get yourself as close as possible to the stage, Dave's side

Not sure if this fan film of the complete show in Sydney has been posted yet...but it rocks! It's multi-cameras including someone who filmed from centre-stage on the barrier. I was at this gig three rows back from Dave so excuse any sentimentality here but I'd be happy if this footage was...

    Maiden old or new

For the sake of this survey can we consider NPFTD and Fear Of The Dark as part of the classic era? Or are they Post modern classical era? Precambrian reunion era? Or the H of Darkness?

Yes indeed. Even if Dave's wristband was black-plague infested I'd wear it with terminal pride.

A couple of pics from the Melbourne show.... Cannot believe my hand is so wrinkly! A busker outside the stadium. Two days after the show and I have the flu...

The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

He wasn't 100% healthy tonight in Melbourne. He told the crowd he could have quite easily stayed in bed but the crowd had energised him like he had put his fingers into a power socket. He didn't aim for all the high notes in The Book Of Souls, but all up he put in a great performance considering...

The Official Book of Souls Tour 2016 Thread (Warning: Spoilers within!)

I could be wrong but it looked to me like Adrian yawned during Blood Brothers. It was very small...not like one of those satisfying yawns when you open up wide for about 5 seconds, make a yawning sound and stretch your arms out above your head.
