    Van Halen

Y'know, EVERY song is doing it for me mckindog. I think Big River is a favourite, as is You and Your Blues. It really does sound like the album that should have come after Fair Warning (I'm not a huge fan of Diver Down). Edward's solo on Big River is ear melting, and I don't know if Dave has...

World Cup of Maidenfans: Dio versus Pink Floyd

Pink Floyd. I'm not voting against RJD the vocalist, but Dio the band. Not that they're unworthy, but Floyd is Floyd and Dio is not... It's only quite recently that I have come to think of RJD as the finest rock n roll vocalist to stand behind a microphone, but his strongest material was done...

Forostar's Top 50 Iron Maiden songs

Foro, you and I might be the two Iron Maiden fans with the most divergent of tastes when it comes to our favourite band:)... good job with the ratings though... interesting to compare...

    Van Halen

I've been listening to this album for two days now, and I can say this... Van Halen is back! Sorry Sammy (and Gary)... THIS is how VH is supposed to sound. Every cut on this album is strong, and Edward is of course the highlight. Bearfan is right... Fair Warning era VH is well represented here...

Your favourite Sabbath studio album with Bill Ward?

Heaven and Hell for me, with Born Again, Paranoid, and Master of Reality coming close.

You poor buggers on the east coast get the shit end of the stick when it comes to snow, but you don't see the regular -35C temperatures that we get here on the prairies. Canada breeds 'em tough...

World Cup of Maidenfans: Beatles versus Queen

Gotta go with Queen... the Beatles were perhaps greater in importance, but never rocked me like Queen.

World Cup of Maidenfans: Iced Earth vs Black Sabbath

Iced Earth is a fairly new addition to my musical world that I was introduced to courtesy of this forum. Most (not all) of what I've heard is very good. However, Black Sabbath is legendary and Iced Earth isn't. Simple as that. Sabbath gets my vote.

Me too. I was a Rush fan long before I was a Maiden fan, and it's a testament to Iron Maiden's greatness that Rush takes second place to them in my world. Rush is Canada's greatest rock n roll export, and 2112 is arguably their greatest album... happy 2/1/12.

Yeah, it was a one album thing with GnR for me too. Queensryche and Megadeth are good bands, but they're no Beatles...

    Van Halen

I'm getting a great retro VH vibe from these samples from the new album. Doesn't sound like there's much that strays from the tried and true, but I can live with that. I'm stoked to hear it in it's entirety. Looking forward to the tour, but I can't fucking believe that Kool And The Gang are the...

    Primal Rock Rebellion

I like "No Place Like Home" more than "I See Lights", but the vocal doesn't really light a fire under my ass on either. I'll reserve further judgement until I can hear the whole album a few times and digest it a bit...
