'the Edge Of Darkness' This song directly quotes the movie "Apocalypse Now", and I always have sequences from the movie flickering through my head when listening to this song. Another good song on a good but lengthy album.

'blood On The World's Hands' This one's a really good song with some serious questioning. I especially like the bass intro, because it fit's so well with the overall tension of the song and the album.

'look For The Truth' Well, some of the bandmembers seem to have some pretty nightmares. There are quite some songs about that topic, like Number Of The Beast and Dream Of Mirrors. The song itself is fairly average, they could have left out that ooohooo part.

'the Unbeliever' Well, this song doesn't really speak to me. Perhaps that's because I am quite satisfied with myself overall and don't want to be someone else. Musicwise it's a decent song, but I think some others on the album are better.

'lord Of The Flies' This song has quite a different feel from the other long and slow paced songs, it's somewhat more upbeat, but also a bit more boring than the rest.

'2 A.m.' Yeah, I often think about these questions myself, but without any success so far. Well, I don't know whether you can answer the question "Why do I live at all?" - but it's quite interesting to see what philosophical and religious thoughts deal with it. Musicwise the song is very much...

'man On The Edge' One of the shorter and faster songs on the album, but it doesn't really have the same impact as some of the other songs. It's still a good song and a decent single.

'the Aftermath' Very dark and heavy, Blaze's voice fits in very well with the lyrical theme. The questions asked in this song are quite interesting actually, especially if one thinks about the aftermath of WW1, when a lot of things changed in Europe.

'weekend Warrior' Frankly, I don't like the song at all, it's the worst on the album and among the worst they ever wrote. The solo part has some interesting moments, but that's it.

'the Apparition' Well, it's one of my least favourites in their entire catalogue. Somehow the whole album is like a rollercoaster ride - there are cool moments (which is to say that there are a couple of great songs) and there are those boring parts of the track which have to connect the cool...

'afraid To Shoot Strangers' A very good song with some of the best harmony parts they ever did. I usually skip the first two minutes to go right into that part.

'fear Of The Dark' A true Maiden classic with loads of great ideas. A spooky intro, great solos and very well structured in general. I like the live renditions better than the studio versions, since they are a played bit wilder.

'childhood's End' Agreed, a very good song and among the best of the album. The intro bit is really cool, and I really like the drums.

'chains Of Misery' It's a decent song, Bruce sounds not as bad as on some of the other recordings. Still, to me the song isn't too memorable, so it's a fairly average three stars.

'fear Is The Key' Well, the lyrics could be much better. They're quite explicit, which is ok, but something a bit more thought-provoking could make the song better. I wonder whether they thought of Freddie Mercury from Queen when writing the lyrics, since he had died in November 1991.

'judas Be My Guide' This song is among the best on the album, it's not a classic, but not too bad. It has some good guitar work and a nice chorus.

'wasting Love' An unusual song for Maiden, which makes it stand out from the rest of the album. I really like the different style of the verses compared to the chorus. Bruce also sounds much better on this song than on some others on the album.

Apart from the fact that I always have to think of Harrison Ford as Dr. Kimble (the movie was done about the same time as the song), this song isn't too memorable to me. The solo is quite good, but I don't like the chorus.

'from Here To Eternity' I like the chorus of the song with it's vocal harmonies - but then again, Bruce's voice sounds extremely strained and ruins most of the song. It's one of the better songs on the album.
