    Misheard lyrics

There's a song by Melissa Etheridge called 'No Souvenirs', and I swear she sings "ok llama, you can touch me."

    The Apparition

Re: Daily Song: The Apparition I quite like it. The rhythm is good and the lead solo respectable. However Bruce's phrasing is a bit silly at times. 6/10.

    Chains of Misery

Re: Daily Song: Chains of Misery I can't believe most people gave this a 4. Its a great tune, so rhythmic and fun lyrics. I give it a 9.

    Misheard lyrics

Before the days of the internet when it was impossible to just look up lyrics, and they were absent from the cassette sleeve, I remember singing the line from TNOTB "a reflection of my walkman staring back at me" (or 'warped mind' as it should be - an old favourite 'misheard' line). What lines...

    The Fugitive

Re: Daily Song: The Fugitive Yes, generally a decent song. Solidly good in all areas but not absolutely outstanding. 7/10

    Childhood's End

Re: Daily Song: Childhood's End 7/10. A good song with great guitar but a few of the lines irritate me - such as "the agonies of all-out war."

    Fear is the Key

Re: Daily Song: Fear is the Key Great riff, interesting verses, good lyrics and guitar but no real solo to speak of. 8/10.

    Afraid to Shoot Strangers

A good song, but not that much going on in it. I give it a 7.

    From Here To Eternity

Re: Daily Song: From Here to Eternity I like it enough to give it an 8. It's a simple but rhythmic tune, and the solos are enjoyable.

    Be Quick or Be Dead

Re: Daily Song: Be Quick or Be Dead Maybe the best on the album. Great galloping rhythm, excellent lead guitar and throaty vocals. What more could you ask for? 10/10.

Bring Your Daughter… …To the Slaughter

Re: Daily Song: Bring Your Daughter... ...To the Slaughter Well constructed; awesome guitar; great vocals; makes me want to leap up and punch the air when that opening guitar blasts in. 10/10.

    Hooks In You

Re: Daily Song: Hooks in You I don't care if the lyrics are shallow. Maiden have done enough that isn't shallow to make a diversion welcome. The music is fantastic and once again the vocal performance is committed. 9 out of 10.

    Run Silent Run Deep

Re: Daily Song: Run Silent Run Deep Well if The Assassin gets 10 from me I can't give this anything less either. In many ways this has a more classic Maiden sound for me: good verses built around a dare I say 'catchy' chorus; and I know others will disagree, but I love Bruce's singing on this...

    No Prayer for the Dying

Compared to most other metal bands, POM and TNOTB are masterpieces, but if they have to be rated then I prefer the other albums slightly better; but I dislike nothing.

    No Prayer for the Dying

I just think Piece of Mind is weaker than all the others. Just doesn't do it for me.

    No Prayer for the Dying

As a result of all this I've done some serious listening to all the Maiden albums, particularly Dance of Death - and I  must admit you praisers of this album were right. I don't know why I didn't like it when it first came out, but it's gradually creeped up on me and is now a firm favourite...

A Matter of Life and Death

I must admit, sometimes I do feel like putting all the choruses together back-to-back, or maybe the opening verses, to see if some are actually identical in tune. Still a great album though.

    The Assassin

Re: Daily Song: The Assassin Great bass guitar going on here, and excellent lead solo. Bruce's voice is at its melodic best I think. A neat, tight tune with nothing to complain about and plenty to praise. Definitely a 10 out of 10.

    No Prayer for the Dying

I've been a fan since I was 8 years old and TNOTB came out, and No Prayer is still my favourite.

A Matter of Life and Death

It's an amazing album. Maybe people are put off by the overtly Christian lyrics throughout, but it doesn't really bother me. In terms of the actual music, it is definitely one of their very best. My favourite track has to be The Legacy.
