    Empire Of The Clouds

There are plans to make a film about the R101. They state that they don't want the story of the R101 to be forgotten, obviously Empire of the Clouds hasn't crossed over enough into mainstream culture for them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-45731665

    Guilty pleasures

Before I got into hard rock and metal, I liked a bit of Shakin' Stevens as a youngster, and I'm still partial to putting on his greatest hits every now and again. I see he is touring the UK next, I'm quite tempted ... This though is my favourite tune of his,

Iron Maiden News, Links, and Interviews

I wouldn't look at their article for 1983, somehow they have managed to find 20 albums that are superior to Piece of Mind.

    Judas Priest

I think you've hit the nail on the head there.

    Metallica

I really don’t understand why they don’t release a deluxe edition that includes the original mix remastered and a complete remix of the album where the bass is made audible. To me that would make complete sense.

    AC/DC

I agree with that, thought Ballbreaker was an album full of good songs, when I listen to it I’ll usually only skip Cover You In Oil. Stiff Upper Lip I think is a really consistent album, unfortunately consistently rubbish. While with Black Ice I thought the title track, and Rock ‘N Roll Train...

Visit a Status Quo forum and you'll find the fans lamenting that they changed their sound in 1977 and were never the same again ...

    Iron Maiden books

There is this book coming out which might be of interest to finding out what happened in the early days. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Iron-Maiden-Praying-Mantis-Early/dp/1908724846/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1535991635&sr=8-1&keywords=iron+maiden+praying+mantis

    Running Free vs Sanctuary

Sanctuary for me, think it is a pretty decent song, though not one I listen to that often, favourite version is the live one from 1985. Have never liked Running Free, a definite skip from me whenever it comes on.

    Official Star Wars Thread

Well I'll give it a shot, but hopefully it is better than the trailer indicates.

    DIO

In the main that is a pretty good selection of songs, and probably enough to give him a starter. If he doesn’t want to go and investigate the albums fully afterwards, then so be it. If I was to add anymore then I think there are a couple of good tracks on Magica, Fever Dreams and Challis...

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath vs Powerslave title tracks

Powerslave for me, I’m really not a fan of Sabbath pre-Dio.

Here we go again...Iron Maiden sued over the rights of 6 songs

What I don't quite get from that statement is - "Last year I presented McKay with solid evidence that Dave Murray has never claimed a songwriting credit for 'Charlotte The Harlot'. Is Murray not credited with writing the song on the debut album? Surely that is pretty solid evidence of a claim.

Judas Priest Discography Discussion (part 2 starting page 20)

I’m always up for a bit of commercial hard rock, so I really quite like Turbo. Locked In really rocks and has a great guitar solo, while I find Private Property, Reckless, Hot for Love and Wild Nights to be real fund commercial hard rock tracks. Great for blasting out the car stereo with the...

What are the IM-related items that you've bought but never listen to/watch/use?

Well my VHS of Live at Donnington doesn’t get any use anymore, I’m not sure why I haven’t just disposed of it as yet, not as if I’m ever going to purchase a new video player. Do play the singles every now and again, there are some good b-sides kicking around, but I could probably live without...

    AC/DC

Yeah do feel sorry for him, really like his drumming on the Donnington DVD I have and the Razor's edge album. But it will be good to hear some more songs from Angus and Brian, unlikely to add much to the legacy, but always nice to have a slightly larger back catalogue to delve into when the mood...

Judas Priest Discography Discussion (part 2 starting page 20)

Screaming is definitely one of the best Priest albums in my opinion, solid from start to finish and not suffering from all the filler that was on the last two albums. I love Devil's Child, it definitely does have that AC/DC style riffage though, and is a bit different from Priest. Think the Dio...
