    Next Iron Maiden Album?

Before TBOS came out I was telling all who would listen that I thought it would be their last one. (I'm now less certain of this as I read an interview with Bruce where he made encouraging noises about another one.) I was basing my pessimism mainly on Nicko's age - if it was another 5 year gap...

    Sign of the Cross

10 for me. One of Steve's finest moments. I do prefer the Rock in Rio version, but that's more down to The X Factor's crap production than a criticism of Blaze's performance

    The Angel and the Gambler

God knows I've tried with this song, but I just can't like it. I think it's my all-time least favourite Maiden track. This or Gates of Tomorrow

    If Eternity Should Fail

I like pretty much everything in this song, and think it's one of the strongest tracks on the album. My only gripe is the spoken word outro really makes it sound like it was originally written for a Bruce solo album (which I understand it was), and sounds a bit incongruous on a Maiden album

    The X-Factor or Virtual XI

X Factor. While it can be a slog at times, I think it's more exciting, experimental (in a good way) and atmospheric than VXI. To be fair though, the two albums are trying to be different things. On X Factor, it felt as though Steve was letting his mind wander wherever it wanted, and it resulted...

    Out of the Shadows

Weakest point on the album for me. I think they were ploughing the same musical furrow when they wrote Coming Home on the next album (the clean arpeggiated verses again are pure Bruce), but for me Coming Home was way more successful.

    Brighter Than A Thousand Suns

Agreed. I'd also rate For the Greater Good of God as good as this. And The Legacy & The Longest Day come pretty close too... what an album

    The Unbeliever

It's got a good chorus, and the instrumental section is one of the highlights of the album for me.

    Best opening to a song?

I gotta go with Moonchild too. I never got tired of watching that intro on my Maiden England VHS!

    The Prophecy

9.... for me, all the instrumental sections are some of the finest moments on the album - particularly the riffs just before the solos and the acoustic outro. I'll agree that that the verses aren't great, hence me not giving it a 10

    Lord of the Flies

I'm a 7 too. Verse is pretty good, and I really like the pre-chorus.

    SIT or SSOASS ?

Sorry if it came across like a statement of fact.... it gets a bit tiresome writing "I think" or "in my opinion" in front of everything.... I thought the fact it was just opinion was implicit! As for the Adrian tracks, Stranger has its moments, particularly the solo, but Wasted Years & Sea of...

    SIT or SSOASS ?

For me, it's not even close - Seventh Son. The title track, Moonchild, Evil and Infinite Dreams are easily among Maiden's best. There is nothing of quite that quality on SIT. The closest I think would be Alexander the Great (which is great, except for a pretty uninspired chorus) and Caught...

    Killers

    10. Best song on the album for me. Although Murders, Wrathchild and Innocent Exile are up there too. The lead guitar playing on this track and on this album as whole is incredible... possibly my favourite Maiden album lead guitar-wise. Question. Don't know if anyone knows the answer. On the...

Official Maidenfans poll: Favorite Maiden guitarist 2015

For me it's a close call between H & Jan for songwriting, and between H & Davey for soloing style. H gets it though
