Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

I just did quick search and found this article with an e-mail from Ted Jensen, who mastered Death Magnetic: https://mastering-media.blogspot.com/2008/09/metallica-death-magnetic-clipping.html The article assumes it's genuine, but I agree that it is questionable.

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

If I remember correctly, with Death Magnetic the mixes were already compressed to the max. Usually this is done during mastering (like you mentioned), but with Death Magnetic they already did that during the mixing process. Obviously, it's case of doing a bit of mastering during the mixing process.

The best five short rockers Maiden have done since 1990?

Nine out of ten songs are shorter than 5 minutes :D Whether they count as rockers and if they are good, that's a different question. I quite like NPFTD, but that's also because I started listening to Maiden just after it was released.

The best five short rockers Maiden have done since 1990?

Good question. Maiden don't write as many short rockers these days, which is a pity imho. 1. Public Enema Number One 2. Be Quick Or Be Dead 3. Judas Be My Guide 4. The Wicker Man 5. Rainmaker

Kevin Shirley - What do you dislike about his work with Maiden? (if you do)

I don't dislike Kevin's work with Maiden, but I definitely prefer Martin Birch's work. But Martin Birch did have the advantage of working with a younger Maiden, who were more open to suggestions and he also did not have to mix 3 full time guitars. My main issue with some of Kevin's work is the...

Poll: The weakest 80's Maiden album?

I'm also curious what they mean by that, it sounds finished to me :D I get the impression that since 30 years ago Maiden seem to think that finishing a song means you have to extend it by about 5 minutes, add a long intro and have Janick doubling the vocals to keep it interesting. Edit: BTW...
