I agree on DoD & the Blaze records, but I love the intro to AMOLAD.  My problem is pacing.  These Colours Don't Run is a hard sell as a second song.  The Pilgrim probably would have gone better there.

The fierce competition just reinforces what I thought - so many good combos to start off Maiden records.  For me it's Moonchild / Infinite Dreams, but there are 5 or 6 others that I'd be hard pressed to disagree with...

I love be quick or be dead, but haven't been able to get into FHTE.  Great verses, but the chorus lacks in my opinion.

After noticing how strong so many of Maiden's opening two songs are, I was curious what you guys thought was the best combined "1-2 punch" to open a Maiden record.

Funny you guys mention it; I just went to the record store trying to find something to hold me over until TFF and found Tyranny of Souls.  I'm really liking it so far.  It's probably not up to the brilliance of Chemical Wedding but it does feel a little more "hooky" if that makes sense.  Hooks...

The Man Who Would Be King Just passed the nuke sequence, and I can already tell why Steve picked this one to base a song off.  Going to be epic and a tearjerker.

I tend to find the 3 or 4 words repeated ad nauseum to be much worse than the longer lines.  Though to be honest, when the melody is strong enough it doesn't bother me at all... think "Wicker Man" and "Brave New World" for example.

That's the thing - a lot of the samples were just intros that were blowing me away.  Think about that - I can't immediately recall a Maiden song that got worse as it went on.  If the intros are good, what are the choruses / verses / solos going to be like?  :blink:

I don't think any song is a total loss, but there are some bad parts for sure Wildest Dreams: "I'm gonna organize some changes in my life."   Worded funny, and cheesy to boot Tailgunner: "Nail that Fokker kill that son / gonna blow your guts out with my gun"   Historically inaccurate, and...

Seems kind of pointless to drop huge lists of "underrated" tunes.  These guys are hugely popular you know, and most fans appreciate those songs. If I had to pick one that I feel is underrated, I would say "Face in the Sand" off Dance of Death.  I remember reading some reviews that were highly...

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Starblind will be a great tune.  The higher melody over the irregular chords / beat remind me of a tweaked version of Lord of Light, which is not a bad thing at all.

The lyrics alone sounded amazing. EDIT: The guitar line on The Alchemist sounds very reminiscent of Bruce's Silver Wings.  :edmetal:

I was so excited I had to start posting here... Steve's final epic track gave me chills.  Cannot wait for this record!  Reminds me of Brave New World / AMOLAD / Bruce solo work all rolled together.  I could not be more stoked.
