Ok, I'm not familiar with this band but I've read on numerous occasions how they are somewhat similar to Iron Maiden. If I was to pick up an album, where is the best place to start?
I like Metallica, the only album I don't particularly care for is St. Anger.
Lulu is more of a Lou Reed album than a Metallica album and is better approached from that direction.
I was keen to hear the album in its entirety, therefore I bought it. I don't hate it, but like I said it won't be played often. The vocals are not my thing.
Musically it's good as expected really, Mikee's vocals aren't my thing though. Had the album featured more traditional vocals I'd definately rate it higher over all. Sadly it's not an album I'd reach for very often. I'll probably spin it once more & then leave it on the shelf.
I can't really pick 5 tracks because they would change all the time, however "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" & "Hallowed Be Thy Name" would make the list most of the time I would think...
I don't mind the track from the website, I'll spring for the disc when it comes out. I'm not a fan of the cookie monster vocal approach as a whole, however "I See Lights" is somewhat catchy.
I'm quite ok with waiting a few more years for another studio set. For a band of their vintage, Iron Maiden are still quite prolific. I'd consider myself a true fan, I have all the studio & live discs, the Eddie's Archive set and the majority of the best of's. The only best of I don't have is...
Re: Paul Di'Anno
I recently bought a copy of the Murder One album by Killers. It's quite a decent listen. Prior to this, I'd never heard anything by Di'Anno outside of Iron Maiden.
I have a full set of remasters that completes the Eddie picture on the spines.
It includes these albums...
Iron Maiden
Killers
Number Of The Beast
Piece Of Mind
Powerslave
Live After Death
Somewhere In Time
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
No Prayer For The Dying
Fear Of The Dark
Live At...
It's an awesome live set, but you need to purchase Eddie's Archive to get it which is quite pricey. That's why I suggested other releases in my initial post... :)
Live After Death is essential, after that Rock In Rio is a decent addition. Flight 666 - The Soundtrack, Death On The Road and Live At Donington are worthwhile also.
If you'd rather stick with studio material, Dickinson's solo albums are solid too. Particularly Accident Of Birth and The...
