Helloween & Gamma Ray

I prefer Giants and Monsters, but maybe because it’s new? Could be interesting to listen to them back to back. Skyfall might be my favourite Helloween song since The Dark Ride.
Both Reunion albums are like equal for me, but G&M has 3 of my absolute favorite songs of the band, all written by Kai. I also like Skyfall a lot.
Listen to giants and monsters again and i still prefer the previous album. Was more fun than this one. But still impress me how great musicians they are (all).
More fun? I think they are both the same in that respect, the latest one has more breathing space compared to the previous one.
Yes, though I prefer the previous release. I like the mix better and it's a longer show.
The guitars are low in the mix, not cool.
How boring its ralph scheppers and how great is kai hansen. Great guitar player and unique singer. Sad he cant sing a full show and for me gamma ray without kai on vocals is not gamma ray
I also prefer GR with only Kai on vocals, love his voice, but Ralf is a beast of a vocalist (still is, check here), Halford's prime level.

Heading To The East is one of the best live albums, both he and Kai are brutally good on it.

The first reunion album is more helloween powermetal. The new one is powermetal but going to soft champ. But more variated.

Kai hints at a GR return to live shows? He can't wait to play the song ''Pray'' from the SOIS album, a surprising choice (not played live since 1997 iirc). A different kind of song for the band, even for its album, typical 80s/90s ballad. Very nice one.

Maybe with the new album, which has been in the works since 2022 (let's hope Kai will do lead vocals, despite Frank in the band).

Any news about that? I would love to see them one more time but with kai on vocals. Last time i saw GR was on empire of the undead tour and he could sing and was asking for help all the time. And the other singer sung 2 o3 songs.

My guess is that they are returning in 2027, doing Somewhere out in space in full anniversary at Wacken or something. There is also a new Hansen and friends album coming up

Somewhere out in space as i said before for me at same level as chemical wedding. The sound and songs on that records make them masterpieces. I managed to see them live in the 90s

Agreed, but the sound of both it and the previous classic album is a continuation (like the Keepers), only some different parts like the outro of ''Shine On'' are the ''new'' in the sound. Their sound was slightly different for the first 3 albums, they don't really have one album with that unique sound.

Interesting idea, they could combine it with a new album. Btw, the 1997 stage decors were cool (love such clever use of backdrops), reminds me of Maiden's TEH stage in a way.

I was there. And i remember his "great" start of the show

Last Before the Storm from Wacken 2003 is one of my favourite live performances in the whole power metal genre.

I loved him on Land of the Free, Somewhere Out In Space, Blast From The Past, the classic Gamma Ray material as well as on Avantasia (the way he delivers his verse on The Seven Angels <3). I also firmly believe that Walls of Jericho is Kai and Kai only material. Apart from maybe How Many Tears, I am yet to hear any song out of that record, sung by anyone else (Kiske included), sounding as or almost as good as it sounds with Kai.

But he could do things like these and a complete utter shit of a show three days later. He has never learnt how to properly sing and manage his own voice. Chain smoking didn't help.

No wonder he's done as a singer now. Unique voice in his genre, but horribly managed throughout his career.

PS—Agree on Ralf. Better voice and better singer (technically) than Kai, but not nearly as distinguishable. (Also poor articulation, at least on Heading for the East).
