Adrian, Janick and Dave's guitars and Steve's basses

The SG's... It seems like Adrian had 2 SG's by the time of World Piece tour. The woodgrains don't match at all and the 2nd one's pickups are much further apart. They probably both had Bigsbies at that point.

The first one is the one that H played again between 2005 and 2013 and AMLOAD videos. And they can both be seen in the guitar boat during DOD sessions.
Yeah, looks very much like 2 different SG's indeed, I too noticed the different woodgrain on both of 'em.

Regarding the pups, do you have some info on how they might have been Jackson's in-house pickups (like, have you talked to some of the builders or perhaps H's or Dave's guitar techs at the time?) ?

I love it too, gotta make a replica of that one, one of these days haha.
When I was googling pics of the CAR Jackson, I came across all these cool pics (Pinterest), so I thought I'd share 'em, it is a Guitar thread after all so I thought; "what the hell"..
Cool pics mate, also, it’s good to see someone other who loves that axe, gotta make a replica of that one too.

Dave and his white Fender (Japanese) Stratocaster (By 1985, this had a Lado flatmount Tremolo installed):

What in the name of photoshop god is this?!

So my Adrian Jackson has been posted, BUT the store I brought it from called me saying the hard case FOR LITTERALY ADRIANS JACKSON DOESN'T FIT IT (not the custom case I'm not spending $500 on a case). w t f. Does anyone have suggestion for an alternative hard case or am I just going to have to build one.

It's an educated guess. Jackson mostly built their own pickups in the late 80s and they were quite popular due to high output at the time. I'm going on the basis of Adrian saying that when he recieved the HSH Jackson, he didn't change a thing and it was perfect. Also, they look like in-house Jackson pickups.

This is a very bad replica... Recess route, it's white instead of vintage white, 22 frets instead of 21, etc...

But, the pickups on the originals were DiMarzios. No Duncans were used before the appearance of Jacksons at least, or even the 3 tone and blue sunburst Strats in 1992.
AFAIK Dave’s white Jackson had DiMarzio pickups (black PAF Pro in neck and white SD in bridge) the other guitars (CAR Jackson, 3-tone sunburst Strat and Blue Sunburst Strat) had Duncans by the time

P.S: Anyone knows what are the pickups on the red Strat from the BQOBD and From Here to Eternity videos (the same Adrian played on Running Free on Donington 92)? I’d bet it is a Fender DH-1 pickup but I don’t know.

I think the CAR/Burgundy Jackson had Jackson pickups and they were swapped with Duncans at some point. Possibly around the recording of FOTD.

That CAR Strat is apparently a hot-rod Strat prototype recieved from Fender and it had a DH-1.

For NPFTD, (sorry about the quality) you can see that only a few ESPs and the CAR Jackson were used.

For the recording of TXF, Dave had a Hot Rails pickguard installed for the first time on one of his cream Strats

If I remember correctly, the CAR Fender Strat was a prototype for the Floyd Rose Classic Stratocaster which was produced between 1992 and 1998. The FR classic (as we all know) where heavily used by Dave & Adrian from the late 90s.

It's probably impossible for us to figure out unless we get an opportunity to ask the man himself probably.
I know that Jackson has used Duncans (as well as Dimarzio's since it first started in the early 80s, the second Rhoads V prototype as seen in this picture

had a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge position for example.

Marty Friedman also had Seymour Duncans in his Kelly that he bought in 1985 (it had 2 pickups and a zebra finish when he got it, he refinished it black when he joined Megadeth). So it could have been any pu'p in Dave's guitar I guess.

The CAR Jackson started with Jackson pickups. The polepieces give that away. No DiMarzio or Duncan has those. NPFTD was likely recorded with those. What happened afterwards is a mistery.

Yeah it was. But it was called a hot-rod Strat at first before hitting the market IIRC.

I think it was a way to make a cheaper mass produced version of the Richie Sambora Strat (no star inlays, but same pickups).

This is a Jackson J-50BC Pickup

According to the following image, 2nd one down from the top(chart), it was suitable for both neck and bridge positions. It's basically a vintage style humbucker with a ceramic magnet instead of an AlNiCo magnet.

jackson-pickups-chart.jpg

Here's what they say about the pickup themselves:

"We’ve taken the J-50B Vintage Humbucker and replaced the usual Alnico magnet with a Ceramic magnet to accentuate the upper harmonics. The resulting sound has all the bottom and midsection of that vintage hum bucking sound with extra high-end clarity. This pickup is recommended for guitar with lighter bodies"
This is the only Jackson pickup I've found that has flat pole pieces on both bobbins, just like in the pictures I posted earlier, so if they're indeed Jackson pickups, I believe the J-50BC model is it (for the Humbuckers at least).

Here's the page I got the 2nd picture from (contains more info about the pickups and Jackson/Charvel guitars as well)

This was one of those days where I just had to go deep into the proverbial rabbit-hole, haha!
