Judas Priest

Really great show last night. Wish the set for Priest was longer than 14 songs, but not complaining when it's relatively Painkiller-heavy. Also, nice to finally hear the band with proper sound considering last year's show at the Rosemont Theater sounded like listening to the band with a bucket on your head.

Tight sets from both acts. Didn't get there in time for Corrosion of Conformity.

For me it was a combination of the fact I saw them last year, the shorter set, and none of my concert buddies were available to attend made the decision to pass easier. Still bummed I missed it cause Priest is my fav band behind Maiden.

Priest, which is what I was hoping for just as I was looking forward more to seeing them. Evidently they're alternating week to week or so? On the drive home I was thinking about who would have been the more effective closer and I couldn't come to a conclusive answer. Yes, Priest has the more powerful/energetic set music-wise, but Alice had the more theatrical show by far. What's better to end on?

Songs Richie wants to play on the next tour: ''Reckless'' (they rehearsed it in 2014), ''Eat Me Alive'', ''Ram It Down''...
still quite a lot of interesting songs to bring back (to debut, there are too). I would really like the first and third. And I like how they think about the next tour and album, if you know what I mean...

^Yes, but at the same time I want hear Richie's takes of these solos.
 
Reckless is an recurring subject. It's been mentioned by the band a few times already, and when one year ago a fan asked Scott about playing Reckless live, Travis said "Not yet". It's one of my fav tunes, I'd love to hear it live, as the upcoming tour could be the best time to do that (since they want to focus on Turbo and SWoD), but... I doubt if Rob can sing it. There are some songs he struggles with, and these songs are more or less similar to Reckless: No Surrender, Gates of Hell...

Eat Me Alive is one of the easiest DotF tracks to perform, tbh I'm surprised they haven't played it already (with Richie - it was played on the Nostradamus tour). Ram it Down isn't an easy one, but they could bring it back. They've already played Screaming for Vengeance and Freewheel Burning, it's not that different from them.

My personal wish for 2026 is Genocide, and it'll probably be played. At least I hope so, but it's a logical choice if they're planning to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sad Wings. It seems that it'll be a weird tour, but if they pick the right songs, it can actually work well.

Isn't the next tour a new album tour with a break in 2026 for writing? Shield Of Pain Tour to continue? Isn't it like a 2nd leg of the IS Tour?

Ram It Down is not easy, but they will manage it. Reckless studio vibe (Rob's vocals, agreed with your other examples) is tricky to replicate live, that's probably the reason why they didn't play it. But they played Solar Angels, which is similar.
 
It'll be a completely different tour. I guess it'll be Invincible Shield pt. 3, to some extent, but Shield of Pain ends in 2025. So far 2 summer shows have been announced. The only thing we know about the tour is that the band wants to revisit both Turbo and Sad Wings of Destiny, but no details were revealed. The 2026 tour doesn't even have a name.
Perhaps they'll work on the album before the tour starts. They recorded some parts of Invincible Shield during the 50 Heavy Metal Years tour (at least Ian did, I don't know about other guys), so in this context touring shouldn't be a problem.

^How do we know this? They announced 2 dates, interesting. It looks like they'll write and record on the road again. Probably one of their most curious choices of a new tour theme for next year then, brand new one for 2 years (another hybrid?) or like a (atypical for them) 3rd year of IS, let's see.

My guess is that they'll revisit ~4 songs from each album, add some unplayed IS song(s) and a bunch of live staples.

It's pretty easy to figure which rarities will be played.
Turbo: Locked in (not played since the Fuel for Life Tour, but it's similar to Heading Out to the Highway, great choice for the 2nd slot on the setlist), Out in the Cold (revisited in 2019), Reckless (?), Turbo Lover

Sad Wings: The Ripper (performed on the Firepower Tour), Tyrant (it's been played many times with Richie already), Genocide (played in 2022), Victim of Changes

Turbo and SWOD is an odd combo, but at least it will be something different and it's better than taking a year off. Maybe just for 1 year and the new album will be released in 2028? (or 2027 if they're ready since the ideas are a lot, but Ian said they are in no rush).

Turbo is a great combo with RID, while SWOD brings the different 70s vibe. I guess some IS songs will stay.

It they choose the right songs, the setlist might be amazing. What it needs is balance. As you said, on paper it looks like a weird mix. On the other hand, many of the 70s and 80s songs sound very different now. They play them faster than originally, they're heavier, so I don't think that there'll be a noticeable contrast between the Turbo and the SWoD songs. Also, if they play 4 Turbo songs and 4 Sad Wings songs, that's only ~half of the setlist. There's still room for the hits and some other rarities (maybe the tracks mentioned by Faulkner).

Considering the recent events, Giant in the Sky could stay in the setlist. If they decide to perform an unplayed song, As God is My Witness is a possibility.

From what I remember, they hinted at releasing the album in 2027. One year ago Halford mentioned that they can't waste much time in between records because they're not getting any younger, so I guess there is some motivation in them.
