Judas Priest

Priest/Alice is tomorrow in Atlanta and there's still tons of tickets left Saw the setlist Priest only played 14 songs in Biloxi. It would be cool to hear Solar Angels live again (first song I ever saw them perform live) but I think I'm passing this time.
 
I wonder if there's any connection between all of the low ticket sale talk and their album output.

For pretty much every other metal band that has the same status as Judas Priest, say like Maiden, Tallica etc - it's the other way around. They're hugely popular live so don't need to keep releasing new stuff. Judas Priest do apparently?

Awesome news, they're on a roll. It seems they/Richie have the ideas. Taking a year off to write and record is normal for Priest. Album release probably in 2027 or 2028. Their Richie-albums gaps are: 4 years-6 years(because of the anniv tour)-and now 3 or 4 years again. It's great to follow-up a strong and successful album sooner if you have the ideas, like Bruce. That's the right thing to do now, after 50 years, unlike one other band...

I think no. Ofc releasing a new album puts them in the spotlight and with some revenue, but they can easily play mostly their hits on tours. It's just that they know they can deliver the goods and want to build on that. Maiden could do the same, if they want.

The fact that it took decades for people to find out he didn’t even play on the album says it all imo.

I don’t think it’s related. These bands all clearly just make albums whenever they feel inspired to, and Priest evidently is more interested than the other two bands in writing.

I think also that Richie wants to make his mark in the band creatively rather than just be a fill in guitarist. He's a bit younger than Rob, Ian, and Maiden. Having your producer play guitar on tour doesn't hurt either.

I agree about Priest, they were great. I've seen them 7 times since 2018 and they never disappoint.
First time seeing Alice Cooper and he exceeded my expectations. He puts on a great show and is very theatrical.

But I'm also glad he closed that show, so I could leave a little early to beat the traffic.
