It looks like Jimmy Kimmel will be back on ABC. I guess Dysney's bosses were not too thrilled with falling subscribtion numbers. Or is it there another explanation to it. For the greater good?
I’m not sure either. i think we went past the point of no return when most voters decided to re-elect someone who previously responded to an election loss by trying to stage a coup and promised on the campaign trail to throw the constitution out. The fact there is an obvious authoritarian power grab happening and this thread is more interested in hand wringing over Charlie Kirk or what some random blogger is saying shows how far gone the country is imo. Even if democrats somehow won a supermajority in congress and the presidency in 2028, we still have a too large group of people who are either ambivalent toward fascism or simply fascists themselves (and too many people afraid to call out obvious fascism).Frankly I'm not sure if there's any coming back from this.
I fear that corporations have begun to realize that they can still function in an authoritarian state client base be damned. Kimmel being put back on the air after public pressure makes me wonder, but also it has been alarming see how easily corporate America has bent over in less than a year.it's gonna be an awkward moment, the one where corporate boses realize their client base is potentially cut in half and they actually have to choose sides.
this could be the begining of the end for Trump.

I'm not sure. When I read reports of how much Disney was losing in subscription money, I wasn't really sure if that was actually a lot of money in the grand scheme (I'm still not). It seems like something made a difference if ABC walked back their suspension of Kimmel so quickly, but I am also curious to see what his show looks like now.I won't disagree or argue, especially considering I do not live there. But bent over is one thing, lose money is a completely different beast. So the question is, are they actually losing money? Is their client base cut in half, or do eople still buy products and services from those corporations? In capitalism the only power we have is the one given to us by our wallets. I am not saying it's right of course, but it's the sad truth.
The only thing left to pull the country from the brink is for Trump, who should never have been allowed to hold office again, to be forcibly removed from office through the legal process of impeachment or the 25th amendment which will only happen if it becomes obvious that he has lost popular support among his voters, which is not even close to happening right now.
Well that's the rub, believe it or not America is still a country run by the people for the people and right now Trump's tyranny is what the people want. I strongly believe that if voters indicated they opposed what Trump was doing now and Republicans felt that there were electoral consequences for standing up to him, Trump would be impeached immediately. As of now, voters have (repeatedly) sent a clear signal that if you don't kiss the ring as a Republican, you get a primary.I'm not sure if that can even happen at this point. The Republican party is so wrapped around his finger, and the Trump supporters are so cult like. They know any action against him will lose them support and power.
There was a very brief period after Jan 6th that it seemed like the party was going to quit the Trump drug, they realised it had gone too far, but it only lasted a day or two, and then they all went to maralgo to kiss the ring and feel back into line.
The Dems I don't think the appetite for another impeachment. They tried last time and the Republicans just shrugged their shoulders and said "yeah but he's our guy, so it's ok"
Even with a majority I don't think they want to expend the political capital to do it.
Just a quick reminder to all and not just @Azas .
Chat GPT and any other A.I is an algorithm. It answers based on how it was programmed and yes the answers can lean left, right or whatever based on how the algorithm was coded/programmed.
Just like Twitter/Facebook or any other social media can be programmed to favor certain posts, an AI can be programmed to favor certain views.
The English Wikipedia generally provides links to citations to back up its claims. Chat-GPT generally does not and when it does upon request, it is often made-up citations.Wikipedia is okay though?
Wikipedia lists its sources. Also, Azas is the one who keeps spamming Twitter threads lolWikipedia is okay though? And what about lists from random people on Twitter or Bluesky?
Who called Azas a fascist? It is possible to disagree without calling Azas a fascist and without mirroring Trump's hate and division.
Politics having nothing to do with it, I've cut down on so many streaming services. Only have an F1TV service and MLB.TV (for fantasy baseball purposes) service. Even then the ownership/administration structure for MLB is getting changed for next year it sounds like, so that'll be going bye-bye.I have cancelled a few US subscription services. Not sure if it's the right thing to do, but it's at least something I CAN do.
So funny. Actions befitting of a world leader. Such a shining beacon for American morality and values.
I heard there’s talk of restructuring the divisions (after adding two expansion teams) to be like the NFL: eight divisions, four teams apiece. We can take this into the MLB topic if you want.Politics having nothing to do with it, I've cut down on so many streaming services. I’m very much the same. MLB and NFL are about it for me.Just don't watch too much TV.
This is actually a serious security fuck up. The general assembly is typically highly coordinated with hundreds of world leaders and VIPs in New York. This all requires coordination between governments, secret services and local police. Clearly there's been a breakdown somewhere. No doubt due to Trump's gutting of the various integral systems that are required to run a functioning state.
