Which quartet of instrumentals is superior in your book?

Personally I thinks Metallica wins here without a doubt. All 4 Maiden instrumentals are just good and neither is great, while Metallica has two great instrumentals (Ktulu and Orion), TLITD is good (not great) and Anesthesia is just ok.

I´d rank them like this:
1. Orion
2. Ktulu
3. Transylvania
4. Big ´Orra
5. Khan
6. Ides
7. To Live
8. Pulling Teeth

Pulling Teeth and Ides of March don’t count for me.

Either way, Ktulu and Orion are two of the finest instrumentals ever written in the genre. Maiden’s instrumentals are just songs without vocals.

Bro literally just defined what an instrumental is.

This is tougher than it really has any right to be, simply because Maiden’s instrumentals are all consistently good, whereas Ktulu and Orion are awesome, Anesthesia is good, and TLITD is bloated and pales in comparison to the two that came before.

But Metallica edges it out.

I always thought Metallica musically by the late 80s were way more advanced.

By Justice it was like-

"okay so it's riff A four times, then riff B twice, then riff C twice, then the back half of riff A once, then key change to riff D.."

Never understood instrumentals. No matter how good it is, it would still be better with a great (!) vocal line above it. I rarely listen to them.

In this comparison, only TLITD is really appealing to me. Orion needs either to be shorter or have some singing.
Transilvania is the only good Maiden instrumental, all the others I always counted as pure fillers.

So Metallica wins bc TLITD is better than Transilvania. And Ktulu and Orion, while dragging, are still better than Losfer Words and the other Maiden instrumentals. On the other hand, they also have the worst of all the instrumentals compared here, as Pulling Teeth is absolutely dreadful!
