RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

You don't need to "look for something" to complain about when it's right in front of you, lol. It's not hidden and it's not like you have to analize the whole recording frame by frame. It's shown on the big screen they're using on this tour. It's obvious that it can sparkle a discussion.

That being said, most of the videos shown on the screen don't seem to be AI-generated. The picture they're using for Phantom might be. I'm not sure about the one for Murders, it's hard to tell if it was made by an actual artist or by AI. Perhaps it'll become more clear after a few shows. But even if they are, at least they look okay. The RotAM animation doesn't (which is surprising since it's one of the crucial moments of the show).

Now we are rehashing the same setlist complaints that have been around since at least 1999 (first tour I remember being online for). The rotational thing is never happening. I don't know why folks think it will. For better or worse, Maiden as a whole (likely just Steve) doesn't want to rotate songs. It's never going to happen. I don't see the point in wishing for never gonna happens.

I know it is immposible for Maiden to rotate songs but I will always complain because I am selfish fan who wants to hear all songs at least once played live and have proper or decent recording of that.

Metallica is example that is possible and I, again as a selfish fan, want the same for Maiden. Simple as that :D

Nobody is comparing Maiden to Metallica, we just talk about differente setlist approach. I like how some people can be triggered just in normal conversation, like small kids.

I watch the video during World Magentic Tour about it. So if Metallica plays in London they would check what songs they played in last few visits in London and 2-3 songs they would rotate assuming that people in audience want to hear something fresh.

If they are playing first time in some city it will be more classic set list song. Also sometimes they are doing special one time show with greats set.

As a hardcore Maiden fan I would like that Maiden are doing that, at least something. Beacuse of nature of my work I am missing out almost every tour and as a fan I would like to have some proper live album from tours, and we dont get that. Also I would like to have one night celebration of some album like they could play smaller show in London for 40th years on TNOTB and streamed it as pay per view event.

But from Maiden we are not getting anything for fans. Only video games and beer. And as a fan that is pissing me off.
Ah yes. The whole you’re triggered thing while writing some long-winded post being triggered because Maiden doesn’t do what you think they should.

I hate to break this to you but there is no perfect setlist for us Maiden nerds. This is a concert for everyone. What generation are we on now?

Double dates in every city playing entirely different setlists each of the 2 nights might be a good shout though. Having 2 16-song sets that will remain the same for the whole tour might not be out of the question. This would be cool. Maybe fans could buy the same tickets for both nights, too. I mean the exact same seat or GA.

this is what an online AI detector said
I do agree the Mariner video has all the hallmarks of AI, but that AI detector isn't always accurate. I tested it with a few images and memes I know to not be AI and it was basically 50/50 on whether it said it was using AI or not. I think it struggles the most with digital art/cgi.

Specifically, it thought this popular meme image from 2018 was AI:

Not trying to argue or anything. Just urging caution with these free AI image detectors. They're not always accurate (just like AI trying to shoot a bird with a crossbow :D)

I don't agree with using AI instead of valuing art made by real artists. That wasn't the point of my comment. The comment was just to highlight the fact that they're always looking for something to complain about.

I don't think using AI is a good thing. I thought the sound of the band and the band itself were more important. But in fact the whole experience should be taken into consideration.

I apologize if the comment sounded different.
All good, sorry if my comment came across as too aggressive. I think we agree on more things than we disagree.
I get that some of the criticisms have been a bit overblown, at least that's how it feels to me.

Hell, I was critical from the moment the tour got announced, because I mostly prefer the 90s and reunion albums to the early 80s for example, but even I'm pretty impressed with the show and the setlist. Sure, I would've loved getting a NPFTD song instead of Aces High for example, but damn: We got SSOASS again. That alone makes this tour worthwhile for me. Everything else is just gravy.

Now I get why they are so focused on zero mobile phone policy. They dont want people to take photos of AI generated screens
:D

Can you imagine how happy Rod and Steve were when they realized that they can do so much work for such a small amount of money.
This feels a bit unfair. There might be instances of AI, but I'd argue that most of the animations and illustrations seen in the show seem to be created by real artists. Obviously I haven't analyzed the whole footage, but stuff like the POM Eddie during Iron Maiden is phenomenal and probably cost a pretty penny. We like to joke about Rod and Steve being cheap and wanting to save money, but I think they chose to spend quite a bit on the new show and, in my opinion at least, it shows (for the most part).

I hate to break this to you but there is no happy setlist for us Maiden nerds. This is a concert for everyone. What generation are we on now?
I explained why I want that and admit that is selfish from my side.

But if other bands can do it, I belive Maiden can do it also (in my dreams or imagination at least)

agree 100%. I liked the setlist, but i would like even more if this was a 90s focused tour. But i think it does not suit their purpose to make a 50th year anniversary.

I still think it was a bummer not include anything from no prayer. But it is what it is.

For sure that is true, but this is not first time that they are missing out some obvious stuff. Like bad photoshop for Senjutsu or terrible video editing of Live Chapter. I think that Rod and Steve just dont care for such details and they dont want come back to fix to spend extra money and time.

Joking aside, I hope Steve will use AI for video editing of next live album. For sure it will be better edited :D

Even I don't have it in me to defend Steve's atrocious editing "skills" :D

I have to say that I'm not criticizing the use of artificial intelligence. artificial intelligence is everywhere now. even if you don't realize it, too many commercials, video clips and even cinema movies use AI. But how you use it is also important. For example, Turkey's most popular metal band Pentagram also uses AI videos on big screen, but I've never seen such amateur frames as Maiden did here. A big budget band like Maiden could have shown better AI-powered films. I must also say that I love the storytelling and the delivery in Hallowed. Funny and epic! Lets see this whole show, with it’s ups and downs, as a first step towards a right target. Just like that arrow : p

I’m not disappointed that Back In The Village, Sun and Steel, etc., etc is not being played. This is all based off the Metallica / Maiden comparison. Like I’m supposed to be blown away that Metallica decided to play 32 different songs stretched over two nights and because they do it, Maiden should too. It’s an asinine argument. Honestly I find it to be a stupid model to begin with. Not everyone can go to two shows in two nights in the fear of missing out.

Don't get me wrong, I am also someone who prefers a static setlist because I know what I would be getting. Imagine if Maiden were to rotate setlists and the night before the gig I went to they played Back in the Village, while The Angel and the Gambler or some other dross was played at the show I had tickets for!

That being said, rotating your setlist definitely needs more effort than playing the same set every night. I am not the biggest Metallica fan (I have only seen them once, back in 1999), but I am seriously thinking about going to see them in London next year so I get 32 different songs in a weekend.

I think the only instance in which Maiden tried to do that was in 2010 with DOD and Paschendale and that lasted less than 10 shows. And what's curious is that it was exactly how it should be done, similar songs in feel, length and everything, it's a shame it didn't work out, maybe they were a little too complex. If they rotated, let's say, TEMTD/Clairvoyant this tour or DOFP/Stratego, Prisoner/Acacia or even Celts/Parchment on TFP it would be already so cool. Anyway, it's the Maiden way and I've learned for a long time to enjoy it for what it is. You could say in LOTB they rotated Revelations' solo between H and Jan lol

Ever been to a Bob Dylan show? Completely different setlists from one show to another. Super exciting!
(Well, that was what he did for years and decades, the past few tours his setlists became a bit more static.)

It made me very sad that Maiden was so resistant to the demands of their true fans on this tour. This is getting really weird. They resisted and ignored our request of Alexander the Great for a long time, then miraculously we managed to see this song on stage, and it was the climax for most people on the previous tour. So we were right and we thought surprises like this could continue...

Then we came across a slightly changed version of Somewhere Back in Time!

Another disappointment is that we are criticized by some fans for criticizing the band. This is really absurd. If it were up to the band and these fans, we would be content with the song pool of 20 songs forever! Let's be honest, this is why Maiden can't be Metallica. If you can't present your magnificent discography to people, then everyone will think your music is just about just Run, Hallowed, Wrathchild and Trooper.

We forced Maiden to change 1-2 songs in a quarter of a century, while Metallica plays 40 songs in total for 2 days in a row without repeating any song! Ok their song structures are easier for them to learn the songs just before the show, but you are Iron Maiden, the true trail blazer in every area of this music genre... You should include more deep cuts in your songs that show the deepness of your music.
Maiden doesn't perform for you; they perform for themselves and you are invited along for the ride. They appreciate their loyal fans, yes, but no fans have any influence upon their creative decisions nor ever "forced" them to do anything. The creative element of the band is quite insulated from online complaints over setlists.
