RUN FOR YOUR LIVES 2025 Tour Thread *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Something interesting I've personally noticed from the footage is that it seems Janick's mostly been sticking to his corner of the stage and not really moving around all that much. I saw him around the middle, in front of Simon in one clip but other than that he seems unusually planted in one corner.
From what I observed, Janick is playing a lot and not goofing around as much so he's not as free to bound around. During one song (can't recall which) he stood at the foot of the drum riser and was working out something with Simon; not going to speculate on what but it's a thing musicians would notice. Get back in tempo, finding the One, something like that. The band is still working out kinks and helping Simon along which is to be expected. Doesn't mean he isn't good enough or anything pejorative and shouldn't be inferred as such. But that might explain why Jan seemed less active; he's playing more guitar and locked in. He performed similarly during a show I attended on the Maiden England tour.

Prepare your pitch forks, but I genuinely believe Aces High to be a borderline unsingable song, even back in the 80s. The chorus is anthemic and Bruce soars, but the verses have always been an utter disaster.

I'm listening to bootlegs from the World Slavery Tour and even early in the tour that song has always been rough. Bruce strains like hell and barks rather than sings the lines. Even on good days it sounds like Blaze did on Bruce songs.

It's a legendary song, but imo it has never sounded good live. Hell, they recorded overdubs for the LAD version and that still ended up sounding rough as hell. It's pretty interesting how everyone and everything gets scrutinized to hell and back, but for whatever reason the various Aces High versions seem to get a pass by the fandom.
Aces High definitely falls into a category of songs thats only sound meh live.

Makes me wonder why Infinite Dreams has always been passed on. 88 version would be perfect if Bruce's vocals werent burnt the fuck out.

Id get it more if he wasnt dying through Aces frequently

Yes, the original one. Guyton restored it at least twice.

Many thanks. Do you know more about the story of the Red Special?
I was always curious, how come two amateurs, one being teenager managed to build such a classic instrument?

I am reading he was an aviation draughtsman. Did they have any workshop with lathe machines etc in the basement or something? Did they have professional consultation?

I kinda miss the big inflatable Eddie or a giant mechanical Eddie but gotta say, this looks freaking cool man! :applause:

Just watched this tour’s rendition of Rime of the Ancient Mariner for the first time. Fuck my old boots! Welcome home—it’s been too long, I’ve missed you! How anyone can not like this song is beyond me. And that quiet middle part? Perfect in every possible sense. The visuals are amazing too—that stormy sea and Eddie the Cloud? Brilliant.

As for me, this song should be (or was) included on every tour, ha ha. I’m already starting to think those Lado guitars make them sound better, but honestly, I think it’s the old material itself—the songwriting and that riff-heavy playing style.

Bow down to Rime of the Ancient Mariner!

My, what an entitled spoiled bunch we can be sometimes.

I'm watching a proper head-on view of Budapest opening night, not the real-time livecast from Tuesday and I'm astonished at how great the band sounds and how well the video backdrop works along with the integrated lighting system. It's a fantastic production.

I think Simon Dawson is a fantastic choice as new drummer. From a musician's perspective, watching the moments where he interacts with the guys as he's still finding the nuances, the tempo changes, within different songs is fascinating for me. They're still working it all out but they'll get it; the foundation is there.

I'm not going to repeat the various opinions already shared and debated, my own included. And I'm not chastising anyone. I'm just recognizing that of all the bands that I've followed, which ones are still performing at such a high level with their original and/or classic members intact..? Who's still designing elaborate stage shows and giving two-hour shows after fifty years..? I'm just saying...and as far as the setlist, yes; fans absolutely have the right to be disappointed or confused by some choices. That said, they're doing pretty much all of the great tracks in one show..? And keeping things fresh and interesting by adding or rearranging bits here and there, like Adrian's melody line during "POTO?" Hey, I'll take it. Yes, I would have swapped out "Aces High" too...but hey, I'll live (the problem isn't Bruce's age or voice; it's a song that doesn't translate well live IMO). Anywhoo, for me it all works better a day after digesting everything.

That’s really lame. It’s a video. The animated backgrounds are fine to be digital but the big finale Eddie being on a screen is just cheap. The big Eddie absolutely has to be a practical effect not a video clip. What’s next, dump the walk-on Eddie and just have that be on the screen as well?

Having a practical effect Eddie should have been set in stone as an absolute cornerstone when they put the set together.

Anyone know how long in advance you'll hear wether you've won FTTB?

Saw some people on Reddit yesterday who got their mail pretty early. Like, a week in advance. While others have gotten it 2 days in advance.

I've signed up for the show in Arnhem which takes place on July 23.
