Quite the effective song, especially the double-time chorus. Heavy, fast and scream-y, perfect for a title track. Ripper kills it. The shredding could have been longer. Never played live.
I'm in a thrash-y mood. I have to admit, such heavy and fast sound is cool and evokes to enjoy it. Not all songs and for 2 albums, but I'm starting the appreciate this style the band tried with Ripper. Which is surprising to me because I much prefer the current approach of the band with the last 2 albums (perfect for them). I guess it's the something different factor and after all these years. It's probably a natural continuation of the Painkiller sound, but with much less melody. Such heavy bangers as this one, Bullet Train, Burn In Hell, Machine Men, One On One, Bloodsuckers... could create a full and cool album. Some of these songs are more enjoyable than some classic thrash for me.

The Maiden-esque song on this new album that everyone is talking about (Borealis) - I guess it sound like early 2000's Maiden (rhythm, 7th Son-melodies and maybe chorus), but also like early 2000's in general and power metal. Only one solo is missing. It works, although I'm not the biggest fan of the band. The melodies really carry the song.

This song is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. The fast tempo definitely helps every time, like the melodies and the memorable chorus.
I want to elaborate on something about metal songs in general (for me):
a chorus/vocal part is important to grab you (and this song has both) - but having (longer) solos/lead melodies and a proper instrumental section can really elevate a song! The same can be said for good (and heavier; like imagine TXF album with such) production. For example, I can't imagine SIT or TCW with different production. The instrumental section of Weekend Warrior is massive and saves the song from being a filler. Stargazer is what it is and because of the instrumental section. Or Sign Of The Cross, especially for an opener. I think it's very important. The other examples - songs like Days Of Future Past, Resurrection Men could have been much better and sound unfinished. Or songs with really short solos like Afterglow Of Ragnarok or Sun And Steel (it's bad). We heard Eternity Has Failed really benefited from it, at least for me. Or Invincible Shield/Rising From Ruins with the longer solo and harmonies.
