Simon Dawson is the new drummer

And one of the reasons that we didn't pick those other type of drummers was 'cause, although they were very good drummers — nothing wrong with their drumming — they all wanted to sound like Nick. And you can't replace Nicko. You shouldn't even try to replace him. You don't want a Nicko clone. You want a drummer that plays the material but plays kind of their own style.

Well that part is intriguing.
maybe that guy called lazarus. Someone said his father was upset

This indeed goes about the Lazarus thing. It was so embrassing for him to go out there in social media with the outburst.

There was this thing first:

And I think he posted some other stuff later..

I didn't pay much attention to the part about Lazarus, it was the part about Dawson playing in his own style, not being a Nicko-alike, that caught my attention. Can't wait to hear his take on Maiden now.
I think some folks need to stop worrying about Simon, the setlist, the stage show, etc. and just try to enjoy and celebrate 50 years of the best metal band on Earth. Simon will be just fine. They would not put anyone out there who can not do the gig.

Article where Bruce says Simon’s style is reminiscent of Clive Burr’s.

Assuming Maiden record and release album 18, I hope Nicko is on it. I couldn’t imagine them wrapping up their recording career as a band without him.

That said, for touring, as fans, I think we should be understanding and sympathetic to the aspect that Nicko had to quit touring for health reasons.

Knowing (about) Steve Harris, the touring drummer decision was likely taken with due care and consideration. Steve’s a bit of a perfectionist, ey?

Indeed, Harris is such a perfectionist that we got the famously well-produced X-factor and Virtual XI, a draft or concept version of the dance of death cover used on the retail edition and a rough mix or master used for AMOLAD.

/S

But seriously, I'm sure the band has integrity enough to say no of Dawson didn't work out talent or chemistry wise. Looking forward to hear what Dawson will bring to their live sound

I meant regarding personnel. I also think how the band conducts and ends what is likely its final album (which I hope is recorded with Nicko) and tour (with Simon if he’s their pick) may be on his mind.

But, yes, the DoD cover and the entirety of the 1990s make my statement about perfectionism a bit less easy to agree with.
