Judas Priest

No room for Ripper era songs according to Scott. Rob probably doesn't want to perform them.
Rob has said as much.

Rob: ''There is no other band out there in metal that is making these kinds of statements. But in terms of the songwriting and the performance and the attitude of the guys and the production, 'Invincible Shield' was probably as close to an important statement since 'Painkiller' that I can remember. We're not holding anything back, that we're still pushing ahead and we're still making really good metal albums. It's just a wonderful collection of really top-class metal musicians in Judas Priest. I'm still trying to do as best as I can with my voice. There are some things I can't do anymore because I've been screaming my lungs out for over 50 years. But I still think that with the encouragement that I get and the support and love that I get from the band and primarily from the fans, I'm able to deliver the goods''.

I would like to see such approach from Maiden. "Let's create best sounding album possible. Let's try to recreate some elements of our writing from the golden days. Heavily harmonized guitars, etc. Let's fukkin write a short song on par with Trooper, Aces High, The Evil that Men Do, etc. Or, let's try something completely different, like Priest did with Painkiller."
Dreams... It's too late for all that. I have some faith that Bruce may deliver something along these lines. New band, new blood, enthusiasm, etc.

Well, Priest are a different band than Maiden with a different approach (riff-y, shorter, faster), so something that different, now, is impossible. And the thing is, Maiden think their albums sound the best as possible... probably. Sneap's polished production and the fact that Priest made their ''Painkiller style'' the work to go now helped them, and the know it. But I don't get why Maiden stopped using the guitar harmonies, a big mystery...

Possible if he writes with them, but it's still not sure considering his preferred style/approach now.

Yeah, personally for me, absence of guitar harmonies is a big minus. Also i miss riffs... I consider 'Powerslave' album as being very riffy. I think they sort of changed their guitar playing style right after Powerslave. I'm no guitarist so don't know exact terms but to my ears, guitars are already diferrent on SIT album. Not so riffy but, heh, I don't know how to name it. In that aspect, even SIT for me was sort of letdown, because their metal style has changed. Album is produced great but the band steered in the not so great direction, imo.

Tour resumed this week in Brazil but it's the same setlist as last year. The ShieldofPain setlist isn't coming until the European dates start in June I guess.
Yeah. And maybe they'll use a new stage for it or not? Last year's one is a bit different, one smaller screen this time instead of four:

It looked better last year. Btw, Richie keeps adding new blue&white guitars, this time it's a Gibson LP. Cool.

Setlist note from the Sao Paulo show :D:D

I view the Ripper era much the same as the Blaze era, not a fan of either. IMO though Ripper is the better vocalist but the Blaze era had better songs. I have no problem with Priest not performing songs from those two albums as I would rather hear other, better songs but it feels a bit petty for Rob to not even name those albums. At least Bruce was happy/willing to perform the Blaze songs that they did.
