NOW PLAYING

Bruce Dickinson - Omega just came on in shuffle, and I found myself listening to it much more closely than I've done in a long time.

Not only does it hit differently at 40 than it did at 20, but fuck me does it hit hard in this world we have now.

A controversial opinion, but Accident is the only Bruce solo album I come back to. Omega is my highlight since ever and I have it higher than the majority of Maiden standard discography.

American Idiot is completely unironically one of the best albums of the 00s and possibly one of the best albums of the new millennium in general. The melodic invention, the conceptuality, the seriousness, so unexpected from fucking Billie Joe Armstrong - it just screams power. It sounds like an album from a completely different band (and believe me, I've heard their entire discography), yet it sounds like the epitome of their strong qualities. I still don't get it to this day. It's like they were collectively possessed by the spirit of the still-very-living Pete Townshend or something.
Absolutely love that album! And they did cite The Who as an influence for it.

Listening to some Primal Rock Rebellion stuff, wow (I never really gave it more spins because of the vocals) - and Adrian certainly wrote a really good and strong collection of metal riffs and other ideas (in every song). Quality. They would be perfect for Bruce solo, I can't imagine for Maiden. Most of the solos are shorter like for PM (which is not cool), the project is a continuation of that.

''No Friendly Neighbour'' (main riff is pure Roy and heavy stuff, while the instrumental section one is so cool)
''No Place Like Home'' (the whole song is good)
''Bright As A Fire'' (the one under the solo is one of his best!)
''Savage World'' (so PM-esque)
''Tortured Tone'' (the chorus is effective)
''White Sheet Robes'' (what is this riff, Adrian! Imagine Senjutsu with it, wow)
''Awoken Broken'' (another brutal one)
''Mirror And The Moon'' (what a cool ''ancient-sounding'' idea)

I've listed almost the whole album... now I understand you, @GhostofCain . Adrian can really write in any style. I also like that the production is good and clear and the heavy riffs can shine. :rocker:
