Love your thinking here -- and Lost In a Lost World, Darkest Hour, and the Parchment happen to be my 3 favorite songs on Senjutsu (and have been since about 2-3 months after Senjutsu was released - it took just a little while longer for Darkest Hour to sink deep into my heart and soul).

at the LoTB outing that I attended, "The Trooper" had several mosh pits and burning blankets/articles of clothing (FIRE FIRE FIRE, in my best Beavis) .. definitely the only song of the night that conjured that kind of activity.

2MTM and Still Life. Fanbase seems to really adore the latter track, of always felt its slightly better than average. Kinda plods, like a lot of side 2 of POM is wont to do. "Still Life" is Maiden doing the AOR sound (although much better than most AOR bands), IMHO.

a reviewer on YouTube or some other streaming service mentioned something about how "Fortunes of War" was somewhat similar to the "Grunge" music popular during that time. I honestly don't see a strong connection between FoW and Grunge, but I can see a similarity between the sound and styling...

Weekend Warrior is the only tepid/forgettable track in IM's entire recorded output, IMHO. Good guitar solo and instrumental break sections in WW though - many bands would kill to have a song of that quality.

Blaze's growl during certain sections really brings the pathos of LOTF home.
